I'm late to the game today. I got out of bed later than normal this morning and cut my coffee/browsing time down. I got on the scale this morning for the first time since November. I had to take a step back as it was messing with my head as I was running so many miles in prep for my half marathon. I was a little worried since my miles have dropped below half of what I was running (and I'm on week two of no running due to injury) and also - the holidays. But, I was glad to see that I was exactly 1lb less than the last weigh in nearly 8 weeks ago. Next week I'll be 3 years out from surgery.

QOTD: I hate ketchup. HATE. I also only eat ice cream very selectively, it really has no appeal to me. I don't have any intolerance but normally it makes me feel icky from the blood sugar spike and after years I think my body finally said "Okay, enough! No more!". Oh, and donuts! I just don't love donuts. We were talking about that while on our vacation recently. If I'm prioritizing what yummy goodness I'm going to eat, they sit near the bottom of the list.

Food is feeling a bit like gravel when I'm eating today, so my portions have been small. That doesn't happen much these days.

My Food:

  • Coffee w/ Cream x2 and a Latte
  • 1 egg over mashed sweet potatoes (I added cinnamon, cumin, and cayenne paper and a pad of butter, this was so good!)
  • Turkey, Salami, and provolone roll ups and one hard pretzel
  • Chicken Drumstick & Broccoli/Cauliflower mix with cheese

I will repeat my PT exercises this afternoon.

Congrats on the scale victory! I can do without donuts now too, after surgery just the smell of them made me nauseous but that has gotten better but the thought of eating one makes me cringe.

Good afternoon.

just got back from the doctor. He is going to put some calls in to neurosurgeons in town and if he can't find one here then he'll look in Lubbock.

it was a horrible night, no sleep really. I'm just tired and sore. Tramadol isn't doing a damned thing for me. Just exhausted. I see my PCP tomorrow and I'm not even sure what to expect/do. I'm hoping my surgeon can find someone.

qotd: Nutella and sardines or most canned fish. Most canned meat is yuck to me. Oh and prosciutto.

Hello, my RnY friends! Happy Thursday!I

We will miss your engaging thread launches, JB! Thank you so much for having taken on initiating for us all. We all get how crammed life can get, and will look forward to the return of your great memes and QOTDs

I've been very sore over the past few nights. I'm fine during the day, but have been aching when horizontal at night, which has made adequate sleep elusive. I ordered some Biofreeze and hope it will help. I'm not sure what's happening but it's a nagging, fairly intense ache (hey, I had a 9-pound baby with no drugs - I have pretty good pain tolerance), which has been moving around from side to side, deep in my hips and/or calves. At least it's only hurting one side at a time! Last night I took two Tylenol and was able to sleep a bit more than the previous two nights. I'll figure out what's happening. If this persists I will see a doc.

I read an article the other day about bees sickening and the loss of hives because of mono-cropping them to feed our obsession with almond milk. Apparently the pesticide load involved is simply lethal to them. I frequently use cashew milk, which the article didn't mention, but it is troubling. I may stop using it and just use a small splash of half-and-half or one of the SF non-dairy creamers instead. Here is the article:

My scale today read 126.0, which is my ultimate goal weight.

It's supposed to snow this weekend and over several days next week! I love snow as long as I don't have to drive in it or shovel it, and I'll even shovel if truly motivated. Aside from driving challenges , it's so very beautiful when it falls! I especially love this at night, when all is still and bright. I live on an island with no commitment whatsoever to plowing, salting, or sanding the roads. And in order to get off island, a truly major hill ending in a 3-way intersection must be navigated. I simply don't understand this laissez faire Washingtonian attitude to wintry vehicular safety! But aside from that, I look forward to seeing it snow.

QOTD: I find the appetite for sushi incomprehensible. Yuck! I also dislike okra, except when it's pureed to death in a gumbo.

First: huge mug of coffee with SF syrup and cream, followed by several huge mugs of tea

B: tuna, HB egg

L: steak, cheese, grape tomatoes

D: probably a repeat of lunch, along with a little aspgus

Have a wonderful day, my friends!
