Frustrating...so so frustrating
I remember when I had to go to the ER not long after surgery the doctor wanted to give me ibuprofen and when I told him I couldn't have that he tried to tell me it's really a myth and perfectly safe for gastric bypass patients to take. Just not to take it in excess. I told him I'd pass.

Well...I got a call from the nurse of my doctors. All the doctor can do is tell me to take Tylenol. Due to regulations at the clinic he can't prescribe anything pretty much.
The pain management clinic is still saying they can't make the appointment yet. The nurse said they have a patient that's been waiting since October for an appointment. I don't think I can wait that long.
I have to call around to Lubbock and see if they'll take what I have.
Guys...I'm so frustrated I could scream. I'm mad at so much right now.
How much would it cost to go to a pain management doctor and self pay?

Not sure but I don't really have the extra money for it. I see my bariatric surgeon next Thursday and hopefully he'll be able to help find a doctor in Lubbock in the tech system. If not I'm going to try & find a patient advocate. I'm just miserable and I had buy a cane yesterday to help.
I found that bringing reading material for any (non-bariatric) doctor who doesn't understand that I can't have NSAIDS really helps or even providing them with my surgeon's card so they can reach out directly
Here is a list of the articles that have been published by other bariatric pros explaining some of the complications that can arise...

I suffer from Fibromyalgia and a majority of the pain relievers are ones that I cannot take... thankfully I can get a shot and that helps... but sometimes I have to go without since the Rhum is 45-50 miles away from me. Continue to be your own advocate and put your foot down. I feel your pain!
