Hi!
I finally heard from my Bariatric Doctor about the nausea I continue to have. She said that nausea can linger awhile post-operatively. This makes sense because I have essentially been nauseated since I awoke from surgery about 1 1/2 months ago
She said that they sometimes use the antidepressant, Remeron (mirtazapine) for a short period of time to manage the residual nausea. I would like to try it, but I have a few concerns.
First, I have a long history of depression and my Psychiatrist already has me on 2 different antidepressants. I am waiting to hear from him as to whether it would be okay to take Remeron for awhile.
My other concern is that Remeron stimulates appetite and causes weight gain in people. The last thing I want to do is "wake up" any hunger pains or interfere with my weight loss just after my WLS. I will have to ask my Bariatric Doctor more about these concerns.
I will wait and see what the recommendations will be from my Psychiatrist and Bariatric Doctor.
QOTD: My job can be very stressful at times. Often, there are times when complex decisions need to be made rapidly. At other times, I just need to think out treatment plans. What drives me absolutely insane is when I'm trying to concentrate and someone is chewing gum and making snapping noises. This totally destroys my ability to think.
MEALS TODAY:
Breakfast: lactose-free, no fat, high protein milk
AM Snack: cheddar cheese
Lunch: turkey, mustard, dill pickle
PM Snack: sugar-free, low-fat Greek yogurt
Dinner: refried beans with melted cheese on top
As I said above, I love pictures of animals. The first picture is my "Super Dawg." At least, I think he is!
When my cat was alive, she would not insult her dignity and allow me to dress her up. The second photo is a rare picture of her when I actually got a Halloween hat with flashing lights almost on her head.
So, so cute! SuperBeagle and TabbyWitch. Love them both!
I agree with you.
Even though I have already taken at least 4 drugs for nausea, the Remeron sounds like it's going to mess with my head and my weight loss, maybe permanently! I certainly don't want that to happen after going through surgery. I want to aviod interfering with the "honeymoon period" of my weight loss this early after surgery.
Thanks for your support on this.

Those two pictures perfectly illustrate the difference in cats and dogs, lol. The car is not having any of it and the dog is so happy to be part of it!

Morning everyone!
I am pretty excited for tomorrow--we are taking Story to Boo at the Zoo along with my sister & brother's families and 2 of our friends and their kids. it is going to be so fun! we are all dressing up in costumes. I never miss an opportunity to wear a costume haha.
QOTD: I have some OCD things that I get a lot of flack for but I really can't stand basic things like leaving dirty dishes in the sink when the dishwasher is right next to it...or having dirty clothes on the floor 3 feet from the hamper. I mean come on...it takes an extra 2 seconds to put it in the right spot!
B: Coffee w/sf creamer, greek L&F yogurt
L: leftover mississippi pot roast
S: string cheese
D: hoping DH is going to make either crab stuffed flounder or Turkey sausage and spaghetti squash tonight!
Pic is the dragon costume I finished making for Story last weekend. I can't wait to see it all together with the feet and the pants haha.
