Morning all! Back in the office today trying to walk on my broken toe. I have my running shoes on but brought my splint and sandals in case the supportive shoe doesn't cut it.
JB, I am sorry that things are so hard at work. Swinging chickens your way that things improve! Please take the time to eat something and to drink. You can't be at your best without it and you need all the strength you can get.
I spent most of yesterday in bed with my foot up watching TV. Unfortunately, the hours of TV was a really bad idea. I was watching the BBC show, Happy Valley on Netflix and it really got into my head and messed with me. It was only hours later that I realized that I had become depressed and anxious and should have turned it off hours before. Does that ever happen to anyone else? I can just get too sucked into the plot sometimes.
Accountability: WAY too many snacks yesterday while watching TV. All meat and protein bars, but WAY too many that I wasn't even hungry for.
Menu:
B1: vanilla Premier Protein shake, coffee, 5 almonds
B2: HB egg, turkey sausage patty
Snack: Cappuccino protein shake, chomps
Lunch: fish, chickpea salad
Snack: turkey breast, apple
Dinner: not sure
Exercise: as little as possible!

I wish I could say that I broke it kicking the heavy bag in class, but in truth, I was vacuuming on Sunday afternoon and knocked a shelf down on my right big toe. It is definitely broken and painful and I am being very gentle with it...no exercise this week! I've been icing and elevating it and have a popsicle splint taped to it. Fortunately I haven't had alot of swelling but putting weight on it is a constant reminder that cleaning is DANGEROUS! And should be avoided at all cost!

Thanks Karen. Because I have to walk alot more in the office, my poor toe is really aching as the day goes on.

I thought Happy Valley was very well done, very suspensful, all seasons, and I think Sarah Lancashire is an impressive actress (showing my age to say actress - But I don't care). But I absolutely know what you mean - I routinely turn shows off in the middle, because I have a low tolerance for creepiness and none at all for horror. Basically, I don't like to be scared, and if things seem too close to home for me in one way or another that's the end of viewing for me. I tried watching Luther because I like Idris Elba. Though it's very well done, some of the villainy is so frighteningly plausible yet simultaneously sofreaky that I simply can'****ch it. I still sometimes think about how scary a couple of those episodes I had to stop watching were.
Happy Valley was so well done that I was watching it for hours and couldn't stop. I got completely sucked in and wrapped up in all the characters. It wasn't overly bloody like many American action & cop shows but the intensity and the twistedness were just overwhelming. I find that even more than 24 hours after I cut myself off that I want to sneak in my office and watch more episodes, knowing full well that I need to no****ch. James Norton's character Tommy gets in my head, especially after his "good guy" roles (Grantchester).
