Loosing my hair since week 15 post op.
Granted my surgery did not go as planed I had to have my VSG changed to a RNY a week apart So I am sure the stress of it all has something to do with it. It started around week 15 and I see no sign of it slowing down here at week 21 has anyone had any proven success with any shampoos or vitamins. I don't want to waste money on a problem that can eventually will change itself.
Also has anyone had short term memory changes? I can't remember anything I made two car payments 2 weeks a part. I have never been forgetful this is out of the norm for me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can't help with the memory issue...
But for hair loss Biotin is helpful. You can buy on Amazon, I got the Barimelts Biotin. There are also shampoos with biotin.
Good luck.

Hair loss after WLS is due to telogen effluvium. Biotin supplements and shampoos will NOT stop it, and they're a waste of your money.

I lost tons of hair too. I stopped losing it sometime around my 8th month out. My hair is regrowing. In previous diets, I recall being advised to treat my hair gently: no harsh chemicals, not even color; no tight ponytails, etc. I didn't abide by those suggestions. I think that hair loss is just par for the course during extended periods of intense calorie restriction. In time, it does stop calling out, and it does grow back. Biotin and specialized shampoos may help a bit, but what really turns it around is just time. Hang in there!
Thanks I have a cosmetology teachers license and taught beauty school years ago and was thinking biotin shampoo and vitamins was just throwing away good money I'll stick to moisturizing shampoo and keratin conditioner and pray the hairloss will be over soon. Thanks for the advise.

Hair loss is a reaction to the stress of surgery and pretty much happens to everyone. It's a phenomenon called telogen effluvium. You can try biotin, but you likely won't see much difference. Be careful as too much Biotin can cause unwanted facial hair growth.
The hair loss usually lasts about six weeks or so, so you're probably on the tail end of it. I have very thick hair and for a while it was like I was showering with Chewbacca and then it stopped. I'm almost five years out and lose just the regular amount of hair now.

My hair loss started at 6 months and lasted for 6 months. Not sure, but I lost what seems like half of my hair. I did so much research and even though some people swear by the special shampoos and vitamins, I came to the conclusion that all those products were a waste of money and probably psychological at best. I spent enough money on Draino!

I would stay away from Biotin as taking it may interfere with lab tests and cause incorrect lab results (per the FDA). As well, it is not effective at preventing or resolving hair loss.
