What's on you Wednesday Menu, RNYers?

Good morning! Oh happy day! Boston is about to get our first nice day since probably September...lol. It's been a really long stretch of cold and miserable weather. Today we will see temps around 80 and sunshine. I am so excited! I am not excited to try on last summer's wardrobe, though, because I am definitely a little "doughier" than I was last August. Pound-wise not too much higher, but I am less "toned" and it shows. Worst case scenario--gotta buy new clothes right? I love shopping :)
Accountability: Pretty good for a work from home day. I had a few handfuls of Cheese Whisps (100% cheese crisps) that added a lot of calories, but 0 carbs.
QOTD: What discontinued product do you miss and wish they would bring back? I always get mad when Trader Joe's stops making things I love, but I am mostly sad about a hair oil that I used to use when I straightened my hair. It was such a great product that when I noticed it wasn't on the shelves, I legit hoarded it off of eBay! I am down to my last few drops after a few years and I am so sad...
G'morning JB and all,
It's 3:44 am on the west coast and I am wide awake! Work related stuff woke me up in the middle of the night and my brain wouldn't shut off. So I figured might as well get up and get productive. I would have jumped on my elliptical but can't wake up the rest of the house.
QOTD: back in high school and in college I used Fendi as my perfume. Everybody associated that smell with me. Even the first few years with DH I used it. All of a sudden they stopped making it and their new lines was nothing like the original. So I started calling around and hoarding. But alas about 3 years ago I completely ran out. I JUST found two more bottles about a month ago. It's like clandestine black market. But I was so happy to get the two bottles and the smell was heaven. I will cherish them and use them sporadically.

We were supposed to get very severe weather last night but the storm cells veered south, so we just got a regular, summer storm which I loved. More scattered storms for the next couple days but I think the threat of them being severe isn't as great.
Qotd: I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but I'm generally not loyal to any specific brands or products.
breakfast: Premier Protein by vehicle of coffee ;)
lunch: Tuna creations packet, string cheese
dinner: 3 oz salmon, 1/4 C zucchini
my NUT wants me to eat more vegetables, but having a hard time incorporating cooked veggies throughout the day (not allowed raw yet) but I feel like that will be easier once I can eat raw (cucumber or pepper slices with dip as a snack). I have veggies with my lunch if I have leftovers from dinner, but like today my leftover stash is depleted :P

I'd not bother worrying about veggies right now--they are just taking room away from protein.
Yeah I'm not fussing too much about it, just kind of like...they make these suggestions but they DO know I don't have that much room in there right?? Three servings of veggies a day? When and how? L
I do well at getting around 70-80g of protein with the morning Premier in my (decaf) coffee, and I love vegetables so I'm fine with eating them when/if I have room. But yeah. Three servings a day isn't happening.

Honestly, nutritionists for Bariatric centers don't seem to have much actual training and background in it. The nutritional advice they give to people once they hit the solid food phase is almost always aligned to a "normal" person's food plan for weight loss (low fat and pushing extra veggies to fill us up), when that is not how our bodies work at all anymore. It's infuriating. Keep on plugging on.
I agree. I know I've told this story before, but it's one of my favorites. After my revision, my surgeon made me go to the post op nutrition class. I will say that his normal dietitian is great, but she was out on maternity leave at the time and they had a dietitian from the hospital filling in. She started the class by saying she didn't agree with the practices' macros and believed we needed a more balanced diet. Anyway, one of the new post ops raised his hand and asked what he could eat with "dips" for a snack. without blinking, she told him he could take corn tortillas and slice them into strips, spray them with oil and bake them. I thought this was horrible advice. There was no mention of appropriate serving sizes, etc. He's a BRAND NEW post op, maybe lay off on the "eat baked chips with your dip" advice. Anyway, I pulled out my phone and sent my surgeon an email telling him what she was saying. 5 minutes later, the door opens and he walks in the room. The bad advice stopped, but I'm sure it picked right back up when she was one on one with patients. You really do need to be your best advocate.

I feel lucky that there are 2 nuts in my practice. One is amazing and one is meh. I got the amazing one :)

Mine has two as well; one is the woman who told me when I was first diagnosed as type 2 that "you don't really need to worry, you're only a little diabetic". They never have accidentally scheduled me with her a couple of times during the program/post op but they always catch it and reschedule.
