Lapband Conversion to RN-Y and weight loss
Very good advice. Thank you. I started out eating really slow and chewing my food up really good, but then I started realizing that I had no problem with whatever food I ate and it was all going down with no problems. Not at all like my lap band. That?s when I started eating faster and not chewing my food so much. I started thinking that the denser the bite of food, whatever it was, the more satisfied I would stay. I do not drink for at least an hour after I eat I get in my 64 ounces of liquids, but I really think I need to do better in that area. And yes I found a lot useful in your words. Thank you so much And congratulations on your weight-loss journey you're doing great and giving great advice thank you

Howdy,
Had a lapband, sleeve and now RNY. Not sure what you mean by scar tissue from lapband causing you to have a normal than larger pouch but that shouldn't have anything to do with it since the band is placed way up at the top of stomach at the esophageal junction so that most likely isnt a reason.
I lose in a very weird pattern ( see my stats) and go as long as a month without losses and even 2 lb gains.
How much have you lost so far? What may seem like a little to you may be normal and it really depends on where you started and how much you have to lose. Plus revisions lose slower. I have averaged about 7 pounds a month but very close to goal now (actually beyond original) but still would consider to lose 10 more pounds.

Hi Babs. Wow. You've done an amazing job on your weight-loss. Congratulations.
my surgeon said, as per the above, my surgeon said he had to spend like an extra 90 minutes cutting through all my scar tissue to get to free my stomach. He also told me that he did not take out the scar tissue and that he just cut through it so it?s still there, and that I had a lot of scar tissue from my lap band . He also fixed a hiatal hernia that I had in that area. So in me trying to make sense of why I was able to eat so much food I thought he wasn't able to get a good "slice or cut?," if you will, so in my mind that's how I was left with a bigger pouch Which would explain how I could eat 11 ounces at one time only five weeks out from my surgery. I see my surgeon tomorrow for follow up and I guess I?ll ask him all about this and the crazy stories I make up in my head lol
I?ve also have been going up a pound or two and then down a pound or two and back up, reminding me of my weight loss pattern before the surgery But I've been trying real hard to stick with the guidelines and overall the weight is coming down even if it's way to slow for my liking. I've been met adding more exercise in to compensate for that
I guess the reason I am pressuring myself so is because in my mind I believe that you get off most of your weight in the first 5 to 8 months so I feel pressured because I don't trust that I'll be able to lose weight the further out I am from my surgery date
I?m so glad I have you guys on this site for support because I often feel isolated. My program has a support group one time a month. I could probably use more
thanks again
Are you weighing and measuring? Like you I have a bigger pouch because of esophageal dilation...it has no been a factor at all in my weight loss. But I still weigh and measure my food and I've been in maintenance for 7 months.
you can see my progress from my ticker.

no problem. I should also add that I had at least one small stall a month usually involving a gain. it is a normal part of losing. Just something to expect and to get used to .
