What's on Your Menu Today (Photo Friday) RNYers?
I am aware, and one of the things I come here for is accountability.

I think Julie's post is intended to do just that. If everyone just ignores the fact that you ate ice cream, at 6 weeks, is that tacit approval.?
Are any of us perfect? No, but testing the waters at 6 weeks post surgery, IS a red flag - I don't see much wrong with pointing that out. It's not like she was an ass about it.
Good for you for putting it out there. I'm sure many would have kept quiet about it.

I don?t think she was being an ass either, that?s why I said that I agreed/I am aware that it wasn't a good choice. I wasn't looking for approval that I ate ice cream, my point was moreso to admit I made a mistake and there were consequences. I will also be bringing it up with my therapist.

Honestly, I was more disturbed that people pretty much ignored that you tested waters, than that you tested waters.
I'm glad you have a therapist and can work on this. You are obviously a regular here and deserve support, whether that comes in the form of an attaboy or a kick up the jacksy.
I've never been a huge ice cream eater, but it's been years since I indulged because it is a GUARANTEED dumping episode of the worst kind. Now you know, don't pu**** because most people *****gain are people who have pushed until they tolerate higher and higher levels of sugar. Plan on preserving this part of your surgery for the future. I'm proof that you can dump at almost 14 years out, if you respect it.

I'm more upset with myself because it was impulsive (compulsive eating is a therapy topic) I've even gone out socializing in restaurants in the last few weeks and wasn't tempted by anything off plan. Ice cream isn't even something I'm normally tempted by either, even before surgery, which is why I thought I'd be fine just sipping on a water when I met them there.
It hadn't gone ignored all day exactly, people were commenting about it. I figured most of them saw that I already knew it wasn't a good decision, so didn't need to point it out again. I mean, if my menus look completely stupid and I seem to be oblivious, PLEASE kick me up the jacksy :P

Howdy,
We are talking semantics here. When you put out a message that something is a "HUGE red flag" and by omission or exclusion, vagueness and ambiguity leave it open ended... NOT helpful and easy to misconstrue.
I don't think anyone was ignoring the facts at all. I wasn't. However,"HUGE" is subjective. I am all about tough love. I definitely wouldn't want anyone to sugarcoat the situation but empathy and solutions work too . I know that compliance is what separates the successful from the unsuccessful .
Writergurl: If you have money and the inclination, I would seek a therapist to help you with relationship to food. Therapy has helped me a lot. I am most definitely a food addict and struggle every day with making good decisions.
I am sure the dumping was a major deterrent but in a few years the benefit of dumping and malabsorption will go away and the treats will add up to weight gain. The takeaway here is we all think we are different and we can beat the system. Just know it is the surgery doing all the work for you right now. Eventually it will just be you.

It's sounds so unpleasant. Thank you for sharing for the rest of us newbies and good job on being open and honest in the accountability portion!

Howdy,
Need to lose at least 4-5 more pounds before I take my Mom on a cruise in May. Highly doable and I am dying to see the 150's. The last time I weighed that I was 14.
QOTD: Love uncluttered spaces, clean refrigerator.
Food for the day:
Coffee with fairlife
Protein bar
some chicken breast
1/2 low carb 50 calorie tortilla with cheese, ham and a teaspoon of mayo
Dinner: some sort of meat and veggies. I have a spaghetti zucchini in the refrigerator calling me maybe with some meat and sprinkle of kidney beans
Dessert: Low carb yogurt
