I was taking Trader Joe's chewable multi, wal-mart calcium and assorted others. I've always had problems swallowing pills even before surgery.

I went back to Celebrate chewables (iron+C, multi, calcium, nature made B-12, Vit D) and not looking back. My health is very important to me and at age 61, I don't want any complications. My health is my number one priority.

I can't agree with you more about health. I'm 57 and getting those vitamins in is a huge priority for me. I want to take as few as possible while meeting my nutritional needs. Reading labels is amazing, is have to take 6 if some just to meet the basics. So I'm doing my research.

I guess time will tell how my body responds to chewable vs regular pills a person swallows. First priority is that they meet nutritional standards, then that I can tolerate them and lastly cost. But all those factors matter.

I tried chewable vitamins after WLS but they made me sick because I'm now sensitive to sugar alcohols, which they contain. Instead, I took regular vitamins and used a pill cutter to make the big ones smaller. After about 2-3 months I no longer had to cut any vitamins. I also take thyroid medications and since the pills are small I never had an issue taking them after surgery. I suggest you don't stock up on vitamins until you figure out which ones work best for you early post-op and later post-op.

That's a really excellent point. I am if course taking vitamins now, but as I'm learning the surgery may very well affect how i respond. So for now I'll stick with what I have and continue researching so I'll at least be well informed.
