What's in your Menu today (Monday) RNYers?
on 1/15/18 8:37 am
I keep as low carb as possible so I would ditch the tortillas and wraps all together - low carb or not until maintenance at least. I would also ditch the beans.

Oh wow beans was one of the main things they told me to eat. even though I haven't been eating them since I was on pureed. They were in the pantry last night leftover from pureed time and I added them in last second to the dinner. I don't eat the tortillas much. If I make a quesadilla I usually will have a bite or 2 but I'm too full from the insides usually to eat them.
I did/do moderately low carb rather than ultra low carb, so I occasionally have a Flat Out wrap or FlipIt (FlipIt's are smaller than the wraps and you sort of fold it up like a taco) - but I was pretty far out from surgery when I started eating those. And again, I don't eat them very often - maybe once a week tops. But if you're doing ultra low carb, I'd skip any bread-type product altogether.
Good morning DD and fellow menu folks! I've been up for a while this morning but am just sitting down at the computer. I have today off so I have been busy with other things.
I went to the pool and put in an hour of swimming and then 15 minutes with the water weights. We use the weights in our deep water aerobics class but I thought that I'd do a little extra. It felt good.
I don't have much else planned today since I already got in my swim. I took a day off swimming yesterday and really missed it. I love how the exercise helps keep my body fit, but it also really helps keep me sane. It is relaxation time and almost meditative with the repetitive laps.
QOTD: I think I would be either a red or maybe a bright yellow. I like the warm colors alot.
Accountability: yesterday I made a big pot of ground beef chili with lots of beans and veggies. It was very filling and warm for a cold day.

Snack: Premier protein caramel shake

you're right about how doing laps in the pool puts you in a meditative state. That's a great way of putting it. I used to do them a lot but haven't in a long time (since I discovered Aqua Zumba, which admittedly is more fun). But I should start doing laps again once or twice a week just for that reason (the calming effect). It might be really good for my stress.
That's why I do both laps and classes. The deep water classes push me to work all of my muscles since we do a variety of exercises including with water weights and noodles and we do water crunches. The Aqua Zumba is fast paced and a serious workout too. I just feel rather inept sometimes with the zumba moves, so I only go to the smaller classes. It is the laps that do the relaxation though and I try to get them in most days of the week.

Morning RNY'ers! I'm off today for MLK day. No service projects in my agenda- hubby is doing stuff at his church.
I gotta vent-- I've been stewing a bit all morning. Weight today was up 3#. Friday I was up too, but knew my choices were the reason behind it and buckled down and was on a good small, downward trend again. Today, up again 3 f'n #'s but I know I'm on point with my eating. I tried taking out my aggression at gym but am still a little miffed. So I decided to call my GYN to schedule my IUD removal. Seems unrelated, but I needed to feel some semblance of control, and I want to be over hormonal birth control and it's side effects. I've calmed down a bit now and made my word of the day 'persacerance'. Stick with it and get through. Sigh.
Qotd: purple or gray crayon. To me they are the most workable colors in the box.

I had an iud placed just a bit over a month ago and crept back up a few lbs and haven't been able to lose anymore. I was wondering if that might be the culprit, but I'm willing to wait until after surgery to see. I also over indulged over the holidays, which would account for the gain, but not being able to get it off is bothering me.

This is my third and final IUD. I had it prior to surgery and I lost weight after surgery without Issues. I do wonder if it's why I've pretty much hit a wall in terms of furthering my weight loss. If I never lost another pound I'd be happy, but I'm curious to know if the iud is having impact.
That and I have significant (80%) hair loss- again, I'd like to see if there is any regrowth without the hormones from the IUD.
