Protein carb and fat consumption
- I am 6 and 1/2 years out and up 30 pounds. I am trying to get refocused. My biggest question is how many grams of protein should I consume per day? Do I still follow what I did post op? I still can not tolerate anything over about 12 sugar grams per meal and still do low fat or I will dump. I know how many calories I need to lose st a slow steady rate. I just don't know if I need to worry as much about protein as I did in the beginning
I'm currently on a "reset" to lose around the same as you and am getting over 100g of protein every day with no problems. I'm keeping carbs around 50-70g a day and am not consuming any white (bread, pasta, rice, potatoes) carbs.
I'm looking at around 1200 calories a day. It's been a week and it's surprising how easy it's been.

Postop diet is still the best for weight loss and health. Keeping carbs and calories low, and protein at least 60 to 80 per day, and you'll do great.
If you don't get enough protein you will also lose muscle, and your hair, skin and nails will suffer.

Protein helps me stay full however forcing the amount feels unhealthy and may contribute to certain organ illnesses.
I try to stay as low fat as possible particularly substituting fat free condiments and recipe ingredients in my home . Even eating out i mostly only taste fattier foods and choose lean options.
I like carbs and don't particularly find i end up wearing them provided they're low fat ( eating regular commercial pizza for instance never fails to blow me up) . But I find I'm more attracted to healthier grain choices like sourdough whole wheat and I always choose fat free milk fat free half and half and fat free yogurt, cottage cheese, cheeses and even fat free sour cream. I also put a TON of fresh vegetables in almost all my recipes.
((())) i hope this helps a bit . Excercing for an hour or so first thing in the morning is a great toner moody lifter and metabolism booster for me.
