Trying to find food is hard sometimes

Trying hard not to burst your bubble, but those Seafood Snackers are loaded with carbs. There are 14g of carbs for 6 grams of protein. that ratio is a disaster for weight loss. Here is the link to the nutritional info.

You would be better off eating shrimp. Shrimp is VERY high in protein for small portion size.

Many people on OH seek therapy/counseling/etc. to address the emotional side of their relationships with food. Surgery fixes your stomach, not your head, and it's hard work to handle our feelings.

Lots of folks have trouble with eggs. Don't force them if your stomach can't handle them. I couldn't eat eggs until at least 6 months out, they made me very queasy before then.

Seafood Snackers are WAY too high in carbs, and not enough protein, to be a good choice. You should be sticking to under 25g carbs per day; 1 package has 14g carbs. Look for foods that are over 10g protein for every 100 cal.

Hmm, guess I was not making as good a choice as I thought then. Well that's another food to mark off the list. Looks like chicken and spinach for life then.

What are you dumping on? Sugar is the only thing which causes dumping and it does not cause you to need the bathroom. I think you need to introduce more protein in your diet. I love salad, but hardly eat them unless it is with chicken or steak, there really is nothing in a salad which your body needs, also cheese is considered at fat. Have you gone back to your clinic or to a dietician? They may have some ideas for you also. Have you tried Eggface on here and her recipes?

Good luck!

I am 12+ years out and there are many things I can't eat and more that I choose not to and I am very happy for it. Eating got me where I was for twenty years, it ruined my sons childhood, I resent food for being the silent killer lurking everywhere trying to tempt me. Now I control it and tell it to **** off. Being normal weight makes all the difference in the world, I would starve to death before I would allow myself to be M.O. again.

Good Luck.

Here is something I don't quite understand, I've been told dumping syndrome has symptoms of stomach cramping and diarrhea as well as it can make you extremely nauseous. My nut told me that its from sugar or simple carbs which enter my system to quickly. So.. if I'm not getting dumping syndrome, then what is going on?

When I get sick it's either within 15-20 min of eating something or as late as 40 min after eating (was also told late dumping syndrome can happen). I feel sick to my stomach as though I just ate something bad, I get massive cramps and diarrhea, my skin starts flushing and I get uncomfortably hot. I feel faint and dizzy, my head starts to pound. And the only thing that even remotely helps is to either hope my anti nausea meds kick in very quick and I have to lay down. When the worst of it is over, I'm extremely lethargic and I need to sleep for awhile afterwards.

Every doctor I have talked to about this, told me I was experiencing dumping syndrome. But if that is the case, why do I experience this when I eat things that are not sugar / simple carbs. Like.. eggs (normal ones) will do this to me. Mustard does it to me, as will mayo (although I likened that to lactose intolerance for the mayo.

I'm honestly only going off what I've been told, but if what I'm experiencing is not dumping syndrome please someone tell me what this is. I know how not to get it by watching what I eat I just would prefer to try and understand if I have the wrong info :)

That is how I feel after reactive hypoglycemia, which some people refer to as "late dumping syndrome". Whatever you call it, carbs cause it. I almost never get it any more, because I stay away from carbs...

The only other possibility I can think off, without being your doctor, is you have a bad gall bladder, which can react various weird ways to high fat. As healthy fats are good for post-RNY, you don't want to avoid them... but get your gall bladder checked out if you truly think you are eating eggs, mayo, etc without any added carbs and still suffering those symptoms. But I would add that I believe, reading your initial post, that you are eating a lot more carbs and sugar than you think you are.

FYI mayo has no lactose to speak of. It is oil and egg and some additives.

FYI, neither mayonnaise or mustard has lactose in it. Mayo is primarily eggs and oil. Mustard is mustard seed, vinegar and spices. Lactose is a component of dairy products and neither have dairy. So I wouldn't be blaming lactose intolerance. It could be the eggs in the case of the mayo if you are having trouble with eggs in other forms.

Dumping is excessive sweating, heart palpatations, dizziness, confusion and is only caused by sugar or sugar alcohols. What you maybe experiencing is from fats or lactose intolerance, food allergies?

Simple carbs are sugar and should be omitted from our diets. I don't know why eggs are doing this, I know if I eat pickles or mustard I get hot, uncomfortably, but I think it's the vinegar.

Anything which makes me feel sick I stop eating. My body is telling me something.

Perhaps it is the fats that is doing this then on certain foods. I'll go back to my doctor and see what I can find out. Because this non-dumping, dumping that is going on is for the birds. Maybe I have developed some weird food allergies.
