Why so tired!

I'm 3.5 months out and losing pretty well. Just had my first round of labs and all good. I've been taken off my bp meds, which is great!
But i'm tired all the time to the point where i go lay in bed at home. I've also had 2 UTIs recently and a cold.
Is more tired and more frequently sick common after RNY? I'm waiting for that time when I have more energy!

Congrats on your loss and your good lab results. I'm wondering if you are getting enough fluids and protein. Also are you doing any exercise? I know that when you are tired that you don't feel like you can, but I've found that even small efforts give good results. If you're not, start small and work your way up. I started walking 3-5 minutes at a time and doing it several times a day. It may help give you some small bursts of energy. Just a thought.

No getting more frequently sick is not common after RNY. Colds are caused by germs, nothing about RNY makes you more susceptible to germs.
Tired is likely- rest when you need to. I can't say I have any more (or less) energy than I had pre-op.

Tks again all. I reviewed MFP and realized I'm not tracking water anymore so went back to doing so. I dont think i was low, but realize how easy it is to fool yourself if not tracking. Also upped vit C.
Also saw my surgeon and she said that RNY does make you more susceptible to colds and infections... calorie deficit is a stress on the body, and any stress decreases your ability to fight infection. I had a cold and UTI at the same time, so she said take it easy and be OK with more sleep for a week or so to recover.

Iron? That helped me a lot. I have not had a single illness in the year since surgery, but I never took vitamins before. I take a lot now. Is your multi a good one? And, I think 3 months is not very far out. It was 6 months bwfore I felt really good after my RNY, and now I have so much more energy.
