Third day since surgery....
On Thursday I had a revision to the gastric bypass. I have now had the band, the sleeve and the bypass.
My question is, did anyone experience a lot of pain after the surgery? My surgery took an hour and a half so my husband feels they probably had to do a lot of manipulation.
I have six incisions and four of them are giving me searing pain.
Thanks for reading.

You had surgery, there will be pain. Pain is subjective- what is searing to you may be a dull ache to me. Are you taking pain meds?
of course there was ' a lot of manipulation' your intestines were rearranged. My surgery took a whole lot longer time wise (not a revision), so I'm not sure what the time frame has to do with it.

Pain definitely varies by the person. I took my meds for the first few days whether I thought I needed them or not. It kept me more comfortable and I was able to walk more.

My RNY took an hour and a half also. Of my 6 incisions, the bottom 2 on the left and the highest one were all so very painful! I found that wearing an abdominal binder helped a lot! Also, I used an icebag on the lower incisions. It gets better, but you've just undergone major surgery and need to heal. I decided to only focus on a few things...water, protein and walking. If I did only these 3 things and nothing else, fine.
