Your symptoms are similar to mine. At this point, I don't even notice until I get below 60. 59-49ish, I get funny vision (I'll actually see things that aren't there) and I feel "fuzzy." I start to get warm, like the heat of a 1000 suns burning through my chest warm. Below 50ish, I start to drip sweat and I lose language skills. I get a super rapid heartbeat/palpitations. I don't have the food aversion (luckily) because I know I need to get something in me NOW.

I agree, I get incredibly tired after a low and my body hurts. Fun times.

yeap. fun times. I still can talk - making sense below 30's. My endo was impressed. I had Insulin Tolerance test app 3 years ago. Fun times.

She called me "low BS adapted" She also told me that she have a patient that was still mostly coherent below 20 and 10's. But that most at that level pass out or have seizures.

don't get seizures. !!!

I think I should change my nickname on this site to Carby Barbie :) yes I look great 6 plus years post op with a rather " minor" safe popular and time tested procedure ( as opposed to the more radical and dangerous DS)

reading about your ( and many other high protein gluten restricting etc ex ops ) very serious health issues really scares me . For the record I have eaten Literally Everything especially stuff my body craves when it does before and after my lifesaving ( I had diabetes and high blood pressure - in remission since surgery ) .

Yes eating carbs ( and I mean healthy natural grains potatoes and sweet potatoes peas and beans as well as fruits for the most part - but I can't turn down a chocolate croissant :) ) may have made me 15 lbs heavier than struggling to eat high protein / low carb : but my overall weight stays at 135 lbs - a muscular and taut size 1-3. I like many here wish I " landed" smaller and indeed hit the zero- double. Zero graceful ideal for a hot minute ... but I'm not ready to beat up the only body I have to unrealistically stay there.

Unlike many here I have worked in the ridiculously competitive world of acting/modeling and I have intimate knowledge of the ridiculous irrational things would be competitors do to their bodies get an " edge" - laxative abuse bulimia excercise bulimia , crazy fad diets , even illegal drugs . Of course all this takes a huge toll on the health of the body which really is all we have . No success or wealth means anything if you lose your health.

Don't mean to preach - but keeping 15 lbs off isn't worth it - and you can easily have the same results with regular exercise and a " normal " unrestricted healthy diet.

No Im definitely in your camp in regards to carbs. I do believe they are a part of a healthy diet. We need fiber and carbs don't necessarily need to be empty calories. I'm 23 weeks out of surgery and I lost nearly 80 lbs. At 180 lbs I look and feel great but I know I could have lost 5 lbs more had I been a stricter. But I still have time on the clock and I do plan on utilizing it to lose some remaining "baby fat".

Recently I just found out the hard way (the only way really) that my new GI tract doesn't always respond so great to the simple carbs. But I've been eating complex carbs the whole time. Steel cut oats, black beans, veggies and the like. I know I haven't had my last slice of pizza/bowl of pasta/sweet. The key for me is avoiding the "garbage carbs" and so far I've done that. I'm learning to eat like a proper adult instead of a kid whose mommy forgot to put the cookie jar back on the top shelf.

I like the learning to eat like a proper adult lol! Yes I think we really do get confused ( maybe deliberately in some cases? ) between eating cookies and healthy carbs like beans oatmeal veggies.

I personally can't eat carb- free I have a high metabolic rate thank God that I really worked hard for and I simply STARVE.

My ex husband who had diabetes and a distal Long ago RNY ( very similar acting to a DS) loved " dietetic" cookies like Oreo Thins...biscotti all under 3 grams of fat per serving. These made me gain weight ! So I can't eat cookies successfully as carbs either : but re fried fat free beans corn tortillas without added fat fresh and frozen veggies even potatoes are fine non weight gainers for me.
