Harvey is messing with my surgery! Total Panic
It is for the best if it is going to hit the hospital. You don't want to drown like these nursing home residents in Katrina. I can't think of a worse way to go (other than being burned to death and seeing the fire coming and KNOWING I was going to burn to death).

They will just reschedule. No biggie. Your safety and coming out of that surgery ALIVE is the most important things

Three pounds below Goal!!! Yay !
I know, I know! LOL But the pre-op diet! The planning! My 20 point check list and child care schedule!
I'm watching the rain water pile up in the street and all I can think about is my surgery. The weight loss journey does get kind of all consuming. Mostly I just keep repeating that it will be all ok and that a postponement isn't the end of the world!
I am kinda bummed though, because I had counted out the days and I would have started back on regular diet right before Thanksgiving and that would have helped keep the nosy family questions at bay.

Of course you are disappointed!!! I think ALL of would be!
I know I worried, until the second I went under anesthesia. I worried the hospital wouldn't pay their electric bill...that my surgeon's wife would catch him cheating, and cut off his operating hand...all kinds of crazy stuff...
Just keep coming here! We will listen, and TRY to keep you from jumping off the cliff :)

We Can Do Hard Things
Ok...this is what you do.
After the hurricane has left...call your surgeon and your insurance. I was a light weight and all I could do was MAINTAIN during the 6 month pre-op period because if I had lost, the insurance company wouldnt have paid for it.
If you have miles to go between the insurance/surgery weight, you keeep practicing the techniques they gave you and you keep losing. The more you practice and educate yourself, the more confident you will feel when having to do it for real.
Find protein shakes that you love NOW. Find clear broths and full broths that you love NOW. Find soft/mushy foods NOW that arent going to make you gag or throw your spoon away.
This is just a minor set back, but you can turn it into a WIN

I am right on the edge. My doctor told me to maintain until surgery.
I have everything set. Protein drinks, broth, a fridge full of clear and full liquids. I even stocked my hurricane kit with shelf stable post-op friendly foods. I've taste tested mushy food and made a meal plan, I am all set there. I've cleaned my closet, sorted my clothes by size, hit thrift stores for a few pairs of graduated sized pants.
There is nothing to do but chew my nails off at this point and wait for the hospital to return to normal operations.
Please stay safe. Sending you positive thoughts and warm fuzzies that you will get through the Monster named Harvey! A set back of a day or weeks is not a bad thing. Sometimes reasons are out of our control. Either way you are on an amazing Journey and you will have a wonderful story to share.
