Miserable this morning
Yesterday was a good day, busy and active. And I forgot to eat (I'm 22 days post surgery). I ate something on my surgeon's list around 2, then I got busy and forgot anything else.
I got up this morning and had one swallow of rooibos (herbal) tea to take my thyroid pill. Immediately I started foaming, and I've been foaming and cramping and hiccuping ever since. After about 4 hours of that ridiculousness I tried a sip of cold Crystal Light. NOPE. Cramping is worse now, high up in my ribs (where my pouch is) and across my diaphragm. I feel like I need to burp or throw up but with the foaming and the constantly spitting up there's nothing in my poor pouch.
Someone please offer me some advice. This is miserable.
Huh. Odd to have foamies from lack of food. Usually foamies is from food stuck.
You didn't say how your fluids were yesterday but it's easy to get dehydrated early out, and that can cause cramping. Magnesium and potassium are your friends if you are having cramps. I use a small can of low sodium V-8 juice to get my potassium up. It has like 700mg. There are chewable magnesium- I use one from CVS that's magnesium oxide.
Maybe cramping is mimicking food stuck to your system? Mystery. Definitely focus on fluids.

When I had the foamies really bad early out-first month... I opened a can of pineapple and drank a few sips of juice. I had read about the enzymes in pineapple helping to break food/protein down. About 20 minutes later I vomited and then all was good except being sore. Now I always keep gnc chewable papaya enzymes in the house if I feel like food is not digesting well. I don't know if that will help in your case as you didn't really eat.
Usually foamies is because food is stuck because it is too dry, you ate too fast, you didn't chew well enough... or something like that. Not not eating.

That's what the on-call doctor (my surgeon is on vacation out of state) said once he looked at the CT films. He said it looks like the contrast was just sitting in my pouch and not going anywhere. They don't have someone to do an upper GI this afternoon, and he said they obviously couldn't send me home in this condition. So I'm being admitted and it'll be done tomorrow morning.
