Hello All...just chiming in with a longgg overdue update...
Hello all. I am a lurker, constantly reading and absorbing info from all of you. Well it's about time I re-introduce myself. My name is Casey and I joined this site 5 years ago when I first started this journey but due to life changes and insurance changes it's taken this long. I am 45 years old, a single mother of two and mimi to one beautiful grandson. 5 years ago, I had gone through a different surgeon, went through almost all of the steps, and had an insurance change at the last minute. I had all but given up. Then this past February I ended up in the hospital for the second time in less than a year. I ended up missing my grandson's first birthday. My daughter had asked everyone to write a letter to her son that she will present to him on his 18th Birthday. Well, as I was sitting in the hospital trying to figure out what I would want to say to him in 17 years, it finally dawned on me that if I didn't make some drastic changes that he would only have that letter to remember me by. My motivation now is him, and how BADLY I want to dance with him at his wedding. Well it's been several years in the making but I FINALLY got my surgery date. 9/27/17. I am soooo stoked that I finally got a date but am also a little bummed that I have to wait 6 weeks for it. This is going to be a very long 6 weeks; or as I'm trying to convince myself, it is going to be a very short 6 weeks to get ready to finally start living. I am eternally grateful for ALL of you and all the plethora of information that I have gained from you. God Bless.

Hi Casey!

Congratulations. The six weeks may feel like they are dragging, but take this time to develop the eating habit you will need to be successful. Reduce portions, don't drink 20 min prior to eating, during eating and 30 minutes after (that is that hard one for me, and why I almost failed). Try to eat better, low carbs, high protein.
You are doing the right thing for yourself first, but family is important to keep you focused.
Good luck!
Jim
