Help!

Hi folks. My husband and myself had surgery 2 weeks ago today. Everything seems to be going fine but my husband says that he constantly feels hungry. And he is getting quite hangry. I told him that maybe it is head hungry, or that he is actually thirsty or maybe he is waiting to long in between meals. Do you have any other ideas or reasons? Anything to do to combat this? He is freaking out and is having serious buyers remorse. To top it off he keeps getting on the scale and seeing no results. I told him to just follow the rules and it will come off. Meanwhile I'm getting rid of the scale. Any advice or words of encouragement for him? He i****ting a rough patch here.

Is he taking a PPI for acid? That's the most common reason for hunger that early out.

What is PPI? They did put us on something to keep the acid down in our stomach but I can't recall what it is.

I think the most common one is Omeprazole. Sorry, I'm giving you a party line, as I was never on any and didn't have acid issues. I do know it's very, very common though.

Well, I think the lack of the med is generally what causes acid hunger feelings, but it could be that he needs his dose increased.

I will also say that some people just never lose their hunger. It's a bugger, but that's the way it is for some folks. In my case, I lost my hunger for about 6-8 weeks and then I felt hungry again.

Yes omeprezoke 40mg is what I was on.

Yes could be acid.. that will absolutely make you hungry... and to think you will never be hungry again is only for some people. When you get off puréed/soft it will change. I promise you dense protein is filling.

I went into a stall one week after surgery and it lasted 3 ½ weeks. The surgeon kept saying he wasn't worried... I was having buyer's remorse as well. Needless to say I lost the weight. Honestly I did better with future stalls because of it.

There are no take backs. This is your new life. Put blinders on and keep pushing forward. It will happen.

Hey, that is what is happening to me. Stalled two weeks post op and can't seem to lose a damn thing now!!

Me too. I'm on soft foods now, but I don't seem to be dropping the weight.
