After seven years, my RNY still works!
Hello Fellow RNYers!
I want to thank all of you for your recent help!
The day before surgery (October 2010), I weighed-in at 404 lbs. In the year following, I lost a solid 214 lbs - to stabilize at 190. (I actually saw numbers for a short time in the upper 180s, but I'll use 190 for illustration).
After weighing in at 222 at my most recent physical, the realization that I had regained a solid 30 pounds set in. I decided to re-dedicate myself to the basics (protein first, measure and track everything, stop before full, no drinking with meals), and return to this site to see what you-all were up to. I've been lurking around, seeing what you all have been doing, and you inspired me!
I am happy to report that today my scale said 199.0 - so I have shed 23 lbs of my regain! And I'm not done, I'm looking to lose at least 10 lbs more. This time I am going to be vigilant - and keep my weight down.
So if anyone is wondering if RNY works over the long-term, even after years and years, the answer is "yes!"
Hi Joe!
Welcome back. It's good to hear that even if we get off the beaten path, that our tool is still there for us should we decide to use it.
I also love that you describe everything I have learned here... the basics.
Good luck on your continued loss!
