What's on your menu today (Monday) RNYers
I'm well this morning, for having to go to work. I'm looking forward to Friday, because after that I'm on vacation for 2 weeks. I've had some vacation this summer already, but it doesn't feel like it much.
Sorry to hear of your headaches. I do get the odd one. There might be some relation to the weather, but I think it's mostly neck and shoulder tension headaches. My BP is always normal so it's not that. Of course, I also bonk my head on things a lot while doing renovations and repairs to stuff around the house, and every time I do, it results in a headache for sure. That gets annoying and turns me into a bear for a while. I had one last night now that I think of it. I went to my parents' place to visit. The family dog is in poor health and is going to be put down today (that's sadly the most humane option at this point, she's old and both hips and shoulders are pretty well gone). So we had a little play (as much as she could, laying on her side) and I sat down with her head on my lap and we watched the birds and squirrels until sunset. She's such a good dog. She was my late uncle's dog "off the farm" and so good with the kids. I'm going to miss her.
Accountability: I haven't been too bad so far on this journey, but there have been a couple of sins, mostly food that my daughter made with grandma. Of course, I ask myself why I did that, and move on having learned something. It's getting easier to say no to anything like that though, because of the question I have forced myself to ask myself. :) "What is the reason I'm about to eat this? Does it move me towards my goal, or away from it?" That's been enough to steer the ship for the most part, and the scale reflects that thankfully.
I'm still not comfortable with receiving compliments. Everyone comments and I don't really know how to take it or respond, so usually it's just an awkward "Thanks" and a bunch of silence followed by idle chit chat and I change the subject.
I'm happy to report though, that I've been able to get back to the gym where my friend and workout buddy passed away a couple of months ago. He wouldn't want me to stop going; it just took me a while to wrap my noggin around things and get back to it. I seem to be able to walk through the door 3 or 4 times a week now. That 30-45 minutes of elliptical and a 30 minute weight lifting session on top of the daily commute is really helping me.
Menu: B: Protein shake. MS: 1/2 cup greek yogurt with frozen berries. L: Leftover chicken breast sandwich (1/2 portion from supper last night). AS: 1/2 cup greek yogurt, frozen berries. S: Probably a salad with this crock pot chicken dish my wife made (looks like pulled pork, but is pulled chicken a thing?) ES: If anything, maybe a protein shake after my gym session.
Cheers!

Sorry for your loss, glad you are pushing through and going back to the gym. Great Dog.

Thanks. She's been amazing. Never hurt a flea, even the ones that took up residency in her fur, being an outside dog. Very patient with my daughters, and always happy. She came to us from an ex of a family member, and her exact age isn't known but my uncle instantly took to her so she stayed. She's been with us for a little over 12 years, so she might be 13 or maybe 14. There were a couple of mishaps on the farm that I'm sure didn't help her hips and shoulders (arthritis, etc.) but she's had a good life there.

A good life is a wonderful thing and it sounds like you gave her a great one. Sorry for your loss. Glad you are back at your gym. It is a very good thing indeed. Much good thoughts to you today.

She had a way of knowing if something was wrong, and would just sit her chin on your leg and look at you until you pet her. As soon as you pet her, the tail would thump on the floor and you couldn't help but smile. When my uncle passed away a couple of years ago, I think she knew. She spent a lot of time with me. Sweet dog.
