Feeling discouraged

I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time. My centre told me to let them know if I was nauseated and they'd prescribe something. Maybe if you tell your centre or family doctor they can help?

Even though I had no nausea, I couldn't eat a lot of the foods that I was told were OK for me to eat for quite some time. I had to do clear liquids only for an entire week, then I was able to progress to full liquids the next week. I basically drank premier protein shakes and water for the first week, then was able to add clear broth, herbal teas later on.

Unlike most others, I did better with very cold drinks; hot or warm drinks upset my stomach for the first month or so.

If plain water causes you nausea, try adding some sugar free drops to flavor it. I like the grape and cherry sugar free koolaide drops, lol.

Good luck!

I'm doing much better today. I am drinking constantly. Premier, herbal tea, and SF popsicles are my friends right now! I think I probably wasn't drinking enough but I also think I may have become lactose intolerant. Last night I tried a spoonful of yogurt and felt horrible. Then I realized that the doctor prescribed Lactulose for constipation and that's when the nausea started! So, no more yogurt for a while and I'll find some other way to deal with constipation. I feel sooooo much better today!

Thanks to ALL of your for your help and support! I couldn't do any of this without all of you!

Just FYI...yogurt doesn't have any lactose in it. Part of the way yogurt is made from milk is that the lactose is consumed by the yogurt cultures. You may just have not been ready for yogurt but you might find it becomes your best friend in a few weeks.

Hope you feel better ASAP!

Make sure you track everything you drink, you need to make certain you are getting enough liquid. It's also a good way to get in the habit because you'll need to track everything you eat when you start eating solid foods! Good luck!

Zofran was very helpful for me at that stage. I only took it when I was so nauseous I couldn't keep anything down, but go**** helped so much. Drink fluids all the time! It will get better!

I got dehydrated after surgery and it felt very much like this. The nurse had me pour a glass of 12 ounces of water and have a little medicine cup next to it. She said use a stop watch function on my phone, set it for 5 minutes. Every five minutes, drink 1 medicine cup full of the water by sipping on it over the course of the 5 minutes. Within an hour I downed 12 ounces. Next hour...do it again. Every hour that I was awake I did another 12 ounces. The little 1 ounce "shot" was never so much that it made me too nauseous. It wasn't fun but it worked. I felt sooooo much better even after just the first hour. If you get to feeling yucky again maybe try this.

Best of luck. It does get better.

I have been taking Zofran and have been feeling pretty good. I thought I would see if I could go without today. I still need it. Your post had perfect timing! I may need it for quite a while too!
