4 weeks post op and gaining weight
on 7/11/17 7:39 am
I am getting normally over 70 grams of protein a day, 16 grams carbs, 15 - 20 grams of sugar and 20 grams of fat. I lost 20 pounds in my first 2 weeks but I was in the hospital on a feeding tube. I am drinking at least 6 glasses of water. Anyone have any ideas what to do differently? I can't exercise much because I am recovering from pneumonia.
Most likely you are just experiencing the '3 week stall'...
How much weight have you gained?
What are you eating and what's your calorie intake?

I have gained 7 pounds. I am eating mostly meat products and dairy and my calories are below 700.

what exactly are you eating? 48 oz of liquid is not really enough. Where are your sugar grams coming from,it is a lot.
I was going to add tha****er might be an issue too!
Also, I too was curious where all that sugar is coming from?

I am trying to increase my water intake. I am finding it hard when not being able to drink for 2 hours for each meal i.e. 1/2 hour before and after and up to an hour to eat a meal. My sugar is coming from milk. I developed lactose intolerance so the lactose free milk has 13 grams of sugar in it per cup.

I'd consider using unsweetened almond or cashew milk.

If you have Fairlife milk in your area it is lower sugar higher protein and lactose free.
When you were giving your daily totals, you can't be consuming less carb grams than sugar grams. Sugar grams are part of the carb total.
I Are you recording in something like My Fitness Pal that you could share?

Are you possibly constipated? As others say, you are probably putting back water weight. I gained 7 pounds of fluid after surgery, and I have read several others who say they gained a similar amount. Also, as others say, get rid of the "sugar." Switch to an unsweetened almond or cashew milk. I know it is frustrating and discouraging---HOW can we possibly NOT lose on less than 1,000 calories a day? You will level out soon.
