Talk me down - One week stall?

Awwwe! I remember feeling the exact same way! My weightloss has been slow but its steady and you know what? I just celebrated 60 lbs gone. My surgery was on February 6th and my second and third week were big fat zeros and then BAM off came 5 lbs and then another couple and another couple... all those little bits add up way more than we realize. And still I have one to two weeks a month where I lose nothing at all.

And another thing... monthly cycles play a huge role in things too. Think about all the water retention that happens each month. It can weigh a lot and so you might think you're set back or stalled, but just give it some time and you'll see. Also you're only 2 weeks out, you're probably still swollen and thats also water retention too.

Best wishes Cheeka. You're doing GREAT!

it's the three week stall. Most of us have that. It's not always the third week, but it happens really soon after surgery - like within the first 4-6 weeks. I had mine during weeks 2 and 3. It finally broke during week 4, and I dropped like 6-8 lbs within a couple of days. Just keep following your plan, and it will break...

I stalled from week 2 to week 3 and was also freaking out and felt like I failed already. It passed after 8 days and I ended up losing 21# the first month. I know it's hard, but try not to be so hard on yourself. I know some people don't weigh themselves often here, but I need the external validation. Especially when I was at the point where people weren't noticing the loss yet. Just understand stalls happen and weight fluctuates.

I "stalled" (and Peach is right -- a real stall is 3 weeks or more -- not just 6 days or a week!) -- between 2 and 3 weeks post surgery and I was certain that I would be the one person that WLS wouldn't work for. I think we become so accustomed to diets failing, that we assume that this will be the same experience.

As you can see by my ticker, the "stall" didn't last, and I went on to lose over 200 pounds.

I'm right there with you!

Im 2 weeks post op. With as quickly as the weight dropped initially it was disheartening to not lose during my second week.

Something to think about if you need validation- get a scale that measures body fat. During my 7-14 days post op I showed zero poundage lost but dropped 5% body fat. So while I didn't see the pounds lost as a number, I knew that I was still losing (apparently the clothes falling off isn't enough validation :).

Sounds like me... lost 11lbs the first week then went into a 3 ½ week stall. Zero, zilch, nada for 3 ½ weeks... now it is a distant memory.... I think it helped break a few things mentally so I didn't freak out as much on future stalls and fluctuations.

Hang in there!
