It's taken me over three years and my first round of plastic surgery, but I'm only 7 pounds away from 145 now. I'll get there, and beyond, I'm not worried :)

You can do this! I honestly don't think the nutritionists know a whole lot about this process, and less theyve personally gone through it themselves, and I've never known one to have done that. My high weight was 417 and my goal is 140. I'm eight months out from surgery and weighed 255 this morning. My primary care doctor told me a more realistic wait, at least before skin removal, would be 160. I can live with that and I understand that I will have a good amount of skin that needs to be removed, easily 20+ pounds. So now my goal is still 140, realizing that may not happen until after plastic surgery, but I am determined it will happen and with passing pound I am more convinced that I can do this. My cardiologist told me he didn't think I would be able to get to 140 and I told him , "challenge accepted. I'll be back when I reach my goal." He smiled and told me to "go for it". The main thing is that you are taking positive steps to improve your health and life. Don't focus on the big picture this early in the process. It's good to have the goal in mind, so you know where you want to go. You will be amazed how quickly you lose at first and As you begin to lose weight, feel better, become more active, watch your BMI drop, etc. you will only be more determined to reach the goal, and you may even change the goal. Generally, on average we can be expected to lose 65-75% of our excess weight from the surgery. Developing better eating and lifestyle habits will enable to lose even more beyond that. Don't let others who have not been through this, dampen your enthusiasm. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
