Hello, I'm melissa. I've started my journey of the requirements for RNY from cleveland clinic. I was wondering how many pounds everyone one has lost in the first month post op!

I didn't lose all that much (compared to some people, for me it was a decent amount). I "only" lost 15.

which, I mean, is pretty good. Some people just lose way more than I did. BUT I did lose so I'm happy

Im 228 right now and only five feet tall. So hopefully I'll lose 30 or so in the first month.

you'll find people on here who lose that much, but they're definitely the exception. And most of them start off at over 300 lbs. Just casually reading people's posts and checking out their signature lines, I would say most lose in the 15-25 lb range the first month (I lost 16 - and I was pretty heavy!)

P.S. I lost over 230 lbs - more than your starting weight!

First month loss seems to vary greatly with the individual. Folks with higher BMIs often will lose a greater number of pounds than others. Stalls are not infrequent, some even occurring sometime in the first month. If you have been losing at a good clip on your pre-op diet you may not have as huge a loss in the first month post-op. Eventually it all works out. It's all a process, but as long as we stick to plan everyone should have a decent loss - for them. I am still pre-op, so I am not speaking from experience, just from learning from others here. Many people here have a ticker at the bottom of their posts which details how much they lost and when. Good luck with your journey!

I lost 22. But like someone said above, it varies widely. I wouldn't set my heart on a 30lb or so goal. You will just stress yourself out and that is a really lofty goal in my opinion.

I was 57 and hypothyroid when I had my RNY (best decision ever!). I lost 8 pounds the first month. But I kept losing; I am 61 now and in the best shape of my life; I just wish I had done it sooner. I am soooooooo very happy I did this. Good luck reaching your goals!
