Complication Story
I had a lap band removed on November 16th 2017. The surgery went well, and the post op period was amazing. Until Monday morning when I awoke from sleep in excruciating pain under my left ribs. My husband took me to an Emergency Room and I was admitted. The diagnoses was a perforated marginal ulcer. I was taken back to the OR for closure of the ulcer/damaged region as well as a cavity washout. I came home today and although this "minor" set bac****ured I am on the mend.
Back to stage 2 diet, no exercise or lifting over 10 pounds for 4-8 weeks depending on my next visit with the surgeon.
I just wanted to share a piece of my story.

I'm sorry you've had a set back. Hopefully everything will go smoothly from here on out.

Did you just have it removed or did you have it revised to another surgery as well? I had mine removed in December, but it was a revision. The surgeon said there was a lot of scar tissue from band that he had to remove before he could do the RNY. I'm so glad the band is out, and I'm sure you feel the same. Annoying that you had this complication, but I'm glad they found it and it is over now and you are starting to heal. Hang in there!

The band was removed but it took the surgeon 6 hours to get it out due to scar tissue. Then he performed the roux en y. There was so much damage from the band that he removed additional stomach remnant and placed a double row of titanium staples.
I had no idea how toxic that band was. Despite my set back I have no regrets. One day at a time.
Heal up quickly!!
Thank you for sharing... I think it's important to know the ups AND downs of having these WLS surgeries... and I'm glad you are sharing.
