What's on your menu today ( Monday) RNYers?
Firefighter was my dream job as well. I spent 15 years as a volunteer, one of my childhood buddies moved to NYC after HS and has been in the FDNy for about 20 years, he is now a Lieutenant , so I get to live it through him now.
Hey Mike, great to see you back! I get to live it through my brother and father as well. My father was on the job for 30 years before retiring and still is very much involved with the department and my brother has been on the job for about 18 years now. One of my friends that I was volunteer with just retired from the New Haven FD as a deputy fire chief.

Happy Monday. It's going to be in the 50s today. We're definitely ready for some warmer weather in So Cal.
DQOTD - I'm an attorney, but my dream job would be wedding/party planner. I throw really really nice parties. The problem is, I like things the way I like them. So, while I could guarantee that your event would be beautiful, I can't guarantee that I'll follow your suggestions, or opinions. It would work really well if I was given free range, and could use your vision as a jumping off point . . . micro managers and I do not work well together.
My Plan:
B: 2.5 oz ground turkey mixed into 2 oz cauliflower rice with a bit of butter and .5 oz grated cheese
L: Citrus marinated chicken (2.4 oz broken into 2 servings)
S: Vanilla latte, Citrus marinated chicken
D: Broccoli chicken (I think)
Not going to put calories because of my dinner issue, but it will be close to 1000 cal. and 100 g of protein. Carbs will likely be higher because of the latte and cauliflower rice . . . grrrr
Good Morning, Everyone!
Thanks Daizymom for taking the lead on this! I hope Daisydoo is ok, I have not seen her for a while.
This is a great QOTD: For me, I guess I would say I am doing my dream job. I have been working at OH since 2001 and started out as a volunteer in 2000 prior to my surgery. Through the years, I have had the opportunity to meet so many people and help them along in their journey. We do a lot here at OH, it isn't just a website. We have National Conferences yearly and we continue our mission by providing support and education to the community. Daily, we have many people who contact us looking for assistance and it is rewarding to help people find the resources they need to get healthy. From time to time, you encounter someone who needs help immediately and it is those times that are the hardest. When someone tells you they don't want to die, it breaks your heart. We have all been there and said those same words at some point in time. So, it really is something I love doing.
So, now for my menu!
Breakfast: Egg white bake with mushrooms, low fat mozz cheese and turkey sausage.
Lunch: Meatballs and cottage cheese
Dinner: Texas Hash (in place of rice, we are using riced cauliflower)
Snacks: Greek Yogurt/Turkey Pepperoni
Water: On track. I am doing better and got in a gallon each day this weekend, so continuing to do that, daily.
Exercise: On track.
Vitamins: On track.
I hope everyone has a great day!
still losing weight even though I've bumped my calories up to a 1500 limit. WTH? I guess I shouldn't complain. Evidently my metabolism can handle this, which makes me happy because 1500 calories seems like a dream at the moment, but so odd my weight started dropping again. Could just be a fluke, though. This maintenance thing is so weird. I've never in my life tried to maintain my weight. Never. I was always either losing or feeling out of control.... This whole thing is completely foreign to me.
QOTD: This is my third career (IT - college-level counselor - back to IT - then librarian) and I've really enjoyed it, but the next step on my career path is retirement!! I was hoping to retire this coming summer, but my husband lost his job several months ago, so that's not going to happen. Even if he got a new full-time professional job tomorrow, I'd want to stay put another year to make up for the lost income. Good thing I'm pretty happy where I'm at - although I dream about reading the newspaper every morning at a coffee shop - then going to the pool or to yoga, then maybe meeting a friend for lunch - then doing whatever I want in the afternoon. Love it! I also think I would like to work part-time in a bariatric clinic after I retire. Part of me would love to be a dietitian, but I'm not going back to school this late in the game. So maybe doing something like coordinating the info seminars, helping with the pre-op classes - not sure - but I would love working with bariatric patients.
20 months out and (supposedly) in maintenance..
B: homemade plain Greek yogurt with 1 T oats, espresso powder, and 1/2 scoop Syntrax Truffle (all soaked overnight in the fridge), topped with cacao nibs and fresh raspberries (good but high in calories!!)
S: SF protein/fiber strawberry cheesecake shake, 5 baby carrots with 2 T hummus
L: asparagus soup with protein powder - maybe a beef stick for density
D: crack chicken wrap with spinach leaves & grape tomatoes
maybe a Light & Fit yogurt tonight if I can afford the calories
ex: none - vet appt tonight. Plus I did Aqua Zumba last night..
Good morning all -
I wouldn't say that I have my dream job, but I really like what I do and get along well with everyone I work with, so I guess I cannot ask for much more than that. I would like to live closer to my work - do not so much like the travel time added to the 12 hours days / nights. Some day I would like to have a straight day job, but where I work that is kind of hard to come by - eventually maybe.
Day 1 Pre-Op Diet - so far so good
Breakfast - protein shake, 1.75 cups chicken broth no sodium (no taste..lol)
Lunch - Shredded buffalo chicken over butter leaf lettuce
Dinner - protein shake
Snack - 2 sugar free Jello , (Protein Shake if I am really hungry)
Without Snack Shake
Calories - 768, Protein - 134, Carbs - 21
With Snack Shake
Calories - 928, Protein - 161, Carbs - 29

Good afternoon Menu friends and I apologize that it has been so long.It seems that much has changed since I was last here. I am in week 2 of my new job. I was so busy prior to leaving my old position, it was an emotional time as I left behind 28 years of work relationships. for those that do not know , I was driving 2 hours a day round trip and I changed jobs and now drive 3.0 miles round trip, I love it. I am a Senior Buyer and now have a couple of buyers that work under me.
QOTD - my dream job would have been a Firefighter, though I love the excitement of being a buyer and sourcing/assisting with new product development.
B - pure protein bar
S - caramel apple pie greek yogurt
L - Homemade roast Beef Chef salad
S - Buddig turkey and cheese
d - Grilled chicken and zoodles
Stay Healthy my friends. Mike
I worked in purchasing for an industrial construction company and it was my absolute favorite job. Especially when I was on site out at the plants. I got to watch the construction of a plant ground up. It was so cool ordering massive amounts of material and seeing it show up on 18 wheelers. I also got to rent heavy equipment which was cool. My favorite was starting a new construction site in a no named town in the middle of nowhere so I had to find everything from road gravel to porta-cans to snake repellent hahaha. Lots and lots of great relationships.
