Welcome! Nice menu... OK now I need to look up these ideal proteins

edit: So I did look them up, did you get them from the Doc? How did you find them. They are pretty low calorie, what kind of protein is in them? and are they tasty mixed in water? Hope that isn't too many questions... LOL.

Love, love, love the flavor of Ideal Protein.  I did Unjury and Isopure (plus a few others) when I had the sleeve.  That stuff was disgusting!

I did the Ideal Protein low carb 'diet' a couple years ago and had tremendous success, until I stopped.  When I decided to do the RNY I knew I would use the IP products to keep my protein up.  The 2 fruit drinks have Hydrolyzed Collagen Protein.  I think some of the other products have whey protein. To find a center/distributor near you http://www.idealprotein.com/us/home.  Warning, IP is not cheap.

I see you can buy it on ebay too... don't know that the collagen protein is a good source for us. Whey protein and preferably isolate is the most easily absorbable, and with the malabsorption that comes with our surgery, we want to get the most bang for our buck....

This is from This article:

What protein supplements should be avoided?

Collagen-based protein supplements are not a good source of high-quality protein and should not be used as the sole source of protein intake in WLS patients. Collagen-based protein supplements do not contain all of the indispensable amino acids that the body needs. When consuming collagen-based products as your sole source of protein, the loss of lean body mass can occur despite meeting your daily protein goals.

While I realize it is not your sole source, something to consider...

Thanks for the information.  The IP fruit drinks are the only ones that are collagen based, and were instrumental in getting through the first week of clear liquids.  The rest are either whey, milk or soy protein.

Getting your fluids in is the most important thing in the beginning, more people go back to hospital for dehydration than anything else...

Mary,

I used to do the Ideal Protein diet. I still have some of the packets and I have incorporated them into my diet plan occasionally. I really liked their food.-
