Good Morning Everyone! Hope you are having a great day! Starting weight 337  Right before surgery 318.5  todays weight 287.6, so I have lost about 29-30 lbs since surgery about 3.5 weeks ago. I wanted to post those considering RNY surgery, or if you are just starting out on your weight loss surgery journey. The last time I weighed 277 was in Jan 2012  I recorded that weight in My Fitness Pal. (glad I have a record) .  I had surgery on a Monday and left the hospital on Weds.  Yes, I had pain after the surgery and it was laproscopic with 6 incisions.  On Tuesday I think I started getting up and was able  to walk very slowly and it was painful at times. I was taking pain medicine.  On Weds we had a 90 minute car ride home from the hospital. Weds afternoon I was very nauseas (sp?) . On Weds Thurs Friday Zofran became my best friend because I was nauseas for 3 day. About 10 days post op I think I weighed about 294 So I lost about 24 lbs in 10 days.  I really had a stall in weight loss for about 2 weeks I got down to 292 and for at least 14 days I did not lose any weight. I have arthritis and back pain issues and had to stop taking celebrex one week before surgery and then I had to wait 3 weeks after surgery to start taking again.  I know from reading on this web site some surgeons say never to take celebrex. My surgeon has allowed me take celebrex as long as I take prilosec with it.  I started feeling better when I could start taking vitamins one week post op. I really struggled to get  55 grams of protein for about the first few weeks. Now I am up to 75 grams of protein. I thnk the longterem protein goal for me is 150 grams of protein a day. I just started walking again once  I could take the celebrex. Also over  the weekend I was able to get  on a stationary bike.  NSV- I can fit into some of my old clothes and I am dropping in sizes.  Waist in March 2015 56, Waist size in October 54 , now I am down to 52 waist size and it feels great to reduce in size.  My clothes are looser! This website has really helped me and I am grateful to everyone who posts their stories and journeys here.  I wanted people to know the pain for a few days is  worth it! I am so happy to lose some weight and hope it continues. My program is about  a 3 hour commute  from my house, so I cannot get to support meetings with my program. I did find a closer support meeting and went last week it was good.  I wanted to ask for food ideas? or recipes I am starting to eat the some things over and over. One thing that I really liked after surgery was sugar free popsicles and ice chips! .  I hope it is okay to mention other resources? I learned a lot from Weight Loss Surgery Podcast from Reeger Cortell. If you are considering weight loss surgery, I encourage you to listen to some of the older episodes and this  can be found on itunes or at the web site.  Also there are great recipes on The World According to Eggface website. Well I am out of time, hope this helps. Have a good day!

Thanks for posting.  I am happy to see men post so other guys have a reference point.  Men usually loose quicker than women. Congratulations on the weight loss!!

Thank you so much for posting! This is valuable information for me. My surgery date is Dec. 14th for RNY. I am really looking forward to it. I find it very reassuring and helpful to get the perspective of others that have already been through it. Please keep posting as you go.
