I have kept around a few of my old fat clothes - not alot just a few things.  I put them on for a few minutes every couple of weeks - especially those weeks when I am in a stall.  It really does drive home the progression.  And then I put on the one thing that I have that is the tightest - just to see that it isn't as tight as it used to be.  Looking at the old pre-op pictures helps as well.

this is a really great idea! I have been quick to toss aanything that is too big now but I'll have to save a few. Also if you took a before picture keep it handy on your phone or something to refer to. I couldn't see the progress I was making until I  Iooked at my pre-surgery picture next to a current one. That really helped me a lot.

I'll have to try the bag over the head thing.  When I look at myself now all I see is my wrinkled face and how much I look like my mother, who is 81.  It's just like me to focus on the negative.

Danielle, you have lost so much weight in 8 months.  Good for you.

I tend to look at the negative also after losing weight.  When I look in the mirror now I think I look too thin and feel like a have no muscle left on my body.  It doesn't help that what feels like everyone I know with the exception of my wife tells me that I need to eat more because I look sick.

Hi there,

I lost nearly 190 lbs from my 2001 GBP. Despite that amazing loss, at my lowest weight (2003) I was still 100 lbs overweight.

To this day, I continue to think of myself as "very fat". And despite ALL the efforts to combat "body shaming" and the "love yourself" movements... Society still sees me as ugly and overweight. Because people only see me on the outside and have NO idea what I've done in my life.

However, if I want to lift myself up, I compare pictures of me at my pre GBP weight compared to now. I'm not near any goal weight I want to be. In fact, I just had an endoscopic revision on 11/11 because I've gained far more than I want to. But if I look back at my pre-GBP pics, I can see the success I achieved. Some of which I still maintain.
