Seen first hand-- weight can influence hiring decisions

There's no doubt obesity plays a large role in job interviews. I never got a job through interviews - not only was I fat, but I know I did very poorly during interviews because the only thing on my mind would be "they won't hire me because I'm fat." But if I went through a temp agency, after working at a company for a few weeks, I would end up getting hired because my experience and skills were excellent and my work reflected that.

An unfortunate story re weight influence in the workplace: when an obese clerical-worker died, the boss' first words when finding about her death was, "well, she was too fat for too long." Then he continued on with his day without mention of her quality work, dedication, kindness, or how she would be missed.

I just wanted to thank you for posting this PeachPie -- it's so important that we continue to advocate for "our people" -- and never forget the discrimination that those suffering from the disease of obesity face.
