3 months out and sweets make me sick

I used to (1-1.5 months ago)tolerate pre made protein drinks now I gag on them as they are too sweet, the quest bars used to be my go to on the run now the sweetness makes me gag.  Whats up with this? Is this normal?  Will it change again?

I went through a period in the first 6 months when Premier Protein drinks and other ready-made drinks made me sick and felt "too thick" -- I didn't eat Quest bars until I was nearly 8 months out -- and then, only a half at a time -- 

I usually used Syntax Nectar with either unsweetened almond milk or water to control the sweetness.  Even now, I use half water and half almond milk with a scoop of protein powder.  I can eat a Quest bar.  

I do try to eat real foods, however.  Sometimes protein shakes are a convenient option, however.

Lucky you!!! Sweet is my kryptonite.  I really wish for gagging and dumping with sweet.  The worst is that most of the foods you are able to "cheat" with RNY are all sugar.

Sadly that is true. Over Halloween I had a weak moment and ate a small piece of chocolate. I expected to feel sick....but nothing. Dangerous path.

My tastes and ability to tolerate certain protein shakes and bars changed a couple of times during my early post op days.   I think I went through a period of 6 months that I could not tolerate protein shakes at all.    Then, it leveled off and I was able to go back to my favorites.  There are times that certain protein shakes are too sweet for me, so I have to find the flavor that is not and stick with it.  For me Premier Vanilla is too sweet, but the Chocolate is awesome.   Unjury, the Strawberry is too sweet, but Chocolate is great.   

To this day, I still find that some things are way too sweet for me and I will definitely take that and stick with it!

I was told to drink one protein shake a day and premier protein was recommended.  The quest bar was just something I found if I am on the run to get in a few grams of protein in.  I don't think Im cheating as I cannot get enough grams of protein in without the shake, the quest bars I can totally do without.  Not sure what to do now to get my protein in.  I can only eat a few bites of anything and am full for hours.

You can add unflavored protein powder to things. Also I keep cans of tuna handy and hard boiled eggs. You will learn to get your protein from food as you move along on your WLs  journey.

It does get easier.
