Yeahhh for another successful revision person! I completely understand how disheartening it can be when all you hear is basically don't be surprised you won't succeed. Isn't it fun when you can show all the Debbie Doubters that you can still succeed? I actually think people that went through having a band or whatever other surgery first have an advantage because we know what it takes to get there and we also know how it can fail. Hopefully with all that knowledge we can keep on loser end for good this time. Keep on going and keep us updated. It's so fun to celebrate success. Enjoy the dress :)

Yesss, this!

I so hated the band for so many reasons, but sometimes I am a little glad that I had a "trial run" at wls. I learned a lot from that experience (and did pretty well, too considering what terrible things it did to my body...thankyouverymuch!). But now that I am older, wiser and more experienced, I am tackling my Bypass with a whole new determination and vigor.

And even though when I was banded the first time, I said it was for health as much as to look good, I am not sure if I ever really meant it. But now that I lived 6 years with constant pain and vomiting, I understand the relief of feeling well and being well, and I will not take it for granted!!!

I feel you! I was beginning to think that life was going to be that horrible forever. I was so depressed. Tell you one thing. I don't take a good night sleep for granted anymore. I appreciate every peaceful moment now without waking up coughing or with crap coming out of my nose. Such a horrible existence. Anyways I'll be cheering you on. :)

I had people tell me that I shouldn't do it and that it wouldn't work as well for me because of my "lightweight status" as well but we have both proved them wrong!! AND I am off all of my Diabetes and High BloodPressure meds!! :) YEAH US!!!!!

Way to go! That is awesome. I had not heard that it's harder for revisions to lose? It makes sense definitely for smaller size and even PCOS, did surgeon give you a reason for revisions losing less quickly?

Hi Jaime,

Yes, revisions are super slow losers. Docs aren't really sure why, but everyone recognizes it to be true--no matter what surgery you are revising from/to.

I read one article that theorized that the bodies of an MO person have a high set point, and while your body was able to be fooled once into fast weight loss, it will not be fooled twice! It wants to hold onto everything the 2nd time, to maintain that high set point weight. I'm sure there are other factors at work, too...

Type "slow loser" and "revision" into the search bar and you'll be able to read a lot.
