What's on Your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
I never eat during a workout (even 2 classes in a row at the Y). It's all about listening to your body. Some people need to because of blood sugar drops, etc, but I've been lucky. :)

I eat about 45 min-an hour before a run for that reason. I hate feeling stuffed, but eating in that time frame gives me enough energy. Also, if I'm doing a long run (or extended activity) I use Shot Bioks which are awesome. They give me that extra boost I need for sustained energy. On longer runs I use 1 blok every 2-3 miles. I agree, that it's all about listening to your body and figuring out what works for you.

Yay for your 1st 5K! I did my first one last weekend and it was seriously so fun and motivating! I actually planned to only run 1/2 of it and walk the rest, but I got caught up in the energy of the group and ran way further than I thought I could.
I think I am going to be a race addict!
One piece of advice is make sure you drink enough, especially if it's going to be warm. I did really well during my training for my first half marathon, drinking and using Shot Bloks for extra energy, but when I actually ran the race in May, my training went out the window and I didn't drink nearly enough. I was dehydrated by the end (and knew it because it took me 4 hours after the race to get enough fluid in me so I could pee) and that led to muscle cramping. And, my surgeon and dietician told me not to be as concerned about the eating/drinking rule during the race . . . that my goal was to stay properly fueled and hydrated. But I'm a sleever, so that may not apply to everyone here. Good luck!!!
Good luck on your 5K! I am doing one on Saturday too. I love racing now, it keeps me motivated to keep training and get faster.
