Protein from free-range chicken eggs

Organic chew toys...my dog would LOOOOOVE that!

My neighbors up the road have free range chickens...damn things range alllll over the place and drive my dog crazy at times. They get in the road, they are obnoxious, and love to try to get hit by us. My daughter did actually take out one of their hens a few weeks ago. Oops. There were feathers in the road for weeks. The weird thing is, I don't even know how my neighbors manage to get the eggs...they don't even keep them in a coop at night. The chickens roost on their back porch. I can't even imagine what the porch looks like.

I think keeping them semi-contained is better than a small pen, but they will be easier to control ( maybe?) in a nice sized enclosure as opposed to having free reign over everything.

I have never had live chickens, so I'm kind of talking out of my ass here, but having them somewhat contained seems like the logical thing to do.

I had been thinking of getting a couple of chickens lately. Thanks for reminding me why I shouldn't get them! So funny!

I love my chickens! But, your "free range" is far too free for my liking. I do not have chicken poop everywhere -- and I have a pen that keeps them contained. Roosters make wonderful broth...

Yes, I too briefly thought having chickens would be a good idea. I'm glad I kept my bird collections to the smaller, finch like birds and get my free range eggs from the store.
