Trying to stay positive during a stall

How do you keep your spirits up in the middle of a stall? This is my first real one since my week 3 stall. I've been stuck for about 3 weeks now. I keep trying to focus on the things that are going well, like how I'm now biking to work and THEN to the gym, ignoring free cupcakes in the break room with ease, having much more enjoyable time with my husband after our nearly 300 combined pounds lost, etc. But I'm starting to get depressed doing everything I can and still seeing the same number on the scale every morning. I tried only weighing weekly, but then I felt even worse because a week of no los**** me upside the head without any inclination it was coming. I'm also worried because I don't know if I've entered maintenance and need to change things up or if I just need to stay the course and be patient.

I'm not sure if I'm just venting or what, but if anyone has any words of wisdom on how to get through a stall with your confidence intact, I'm all ears!

I'm right there with you. I have to give myself a pep talk every morning. Today I reminded myself how much I've lost in the last year. Our bodies need time to catch up. We've come so far. Focus on your success.

Measure yourself or what I used to do was get out a pair of my 'old life' pants. Always cheered me up. Congrats on your loss!!

I went weeks and months without losing during the period from month six to about month 18. I lost about ten pounds during that time, but maintained easily

It is not true maintenance. That starts in year three. Right now your malabsorption will keep you from gaining. Cutting calories can get off more weight if that is what you want.

I feel your pain! I'm soooo tired of being in the 230's..like I'm trapped here forever. Just keep talking to yourself in the mirror that this is a marathon not a sprint and it doesn't matter. You will get there...when the time is right. It WILL happen!

Am I reading your info correctly...you are 5 months out and 133 lbs lost. Why that is 6.65 lbs per week on an average. Excellent. Your body will go into a stall from time to time. I used to get so frustrated having two 3 week stalls since July 10th surgery. But when I went for my 3 mo check up it was all good. I lost avg of 3 lbs a week. That took the stress right off my mind. For me Im good with avg 3 lbs per week. Congrats on your 6.65 lbs per week avg. You can wait out the stall.

Only do the weekly scales as a check to see if you have come out of the stall. I bet your measurements are changing.

I lost 80 of those pounds in the 7 months before surgery. Since surgery I'm down 53 lbs (about 2.3 lbs per week). Still nothing to sneeze at, but nowhere near 6 lbs a week, lol.

You are right....2.3 per week still is nothing to sneeze at. Stalls are frustrating but you can do this. You have been doing great. Congrats.

Hi - Remember muscle weighs more than fat. Have you checked your measurements lately? Even though you're not losing weight you could be losing inches. I know that happened to me.

I've been measuring every month or so, but I'm so "squishy" now that even that seems to vary based on the quality of the bra I'm wearing, haha.
