VSG to RNY?
I had gotten a VSG in 2010 in Mexico. I lost a total of 75 lbs after about a year. I went from 330 to about 255. I never really felt sick, I got fuller a LITTLE faster and I hit the gym hardcore. Well in just over a year and a half after the surgery I had gained all of the weight back. It's now 2015 and I am still right where I started in 2010. I feel like the biggest failure. I'm 6'1 and I need to loose at least 100 lbs. I'm saving money to get back to Mexico for an revision surgery to RNY. Does anyone have experience doing this? I'm terried I will be a failure again. Putting a surgery deposit down soon for March and just hope I'm making the right choice. Thanks!
Please don't put any money down until people have responded to your post. From what I have read here on OH, you just have to go back to basics and use your existing tool. Protein first, then veggies. Drink 64 oz of water, try for 70-90 grams of protein. You can eat a lot of carbs and feel no restriction, but if you eat protein, you will feel full. It will take a few days to a week to stop craving carbs, but you can do it.
I have heard that people doing a revision face a slower weight loss. it seems like your surgery was successful and you need to get your habits cleaned up.

I had vsg in 2010 as well. Lost 72 lbs. and gained half back. Maintained that for a couple years or so. Never reached goal. Had rny last November. Lost 50 lbs and am still there. No fault of the surgery. But my own. Letting stress and heartache to dictate my habits. So although the temporary malabsorption is a huge help, you still have to adhere to the guidelines. When I let carbs back in ive been struggling since. I'll never give up that's for sure. But just remember it's another tool. The one thing that it kinda nice is that since most of your stomach has be removed your pouch more than likely won't stretch a lot. When I had my endoscopy before this last surgery my surgeon said it was a little dilated in a couple places but not bad at all. Still was a sleeve and I did still have restriction WHEN I ate protein first! I wish you luck in whatever you decide. With having a lot to lose you may opt for the malabsorption component and that's your decision. Don't let anyone try and make the decision for you.
