Hang in there! It will get better. Try drinking the Premier protein, they have 30g protein and because they are a thin consistency they are easier to get down. Try them different temps- cold, room temp, or even heated like hot chocolate. Whatever works. Getting down the fluids in the beginning is hard but so important. Good Luck!

Hi...I feel your pain. I had my rny May 26th. I was in the hospital for 7 days with swellings and other issues. I was exactly like you when I came home....but didnt need to go to the hospital though. It got a little better each day... i did drop weight fast....I was exhausted all the time...sometimes emotional... I finally felt better at 6 weeks and totally alive at 8 weeks...when I could finally breath and feel normal again so to speak. At 4 moths out I am so grateful I went through it. I am down 84 pounds and life has changed so much. Be patient and kind to yourself and have no expectations...you are on your own path nt anyone elses. If you eer need to talk please message me. I had great support here...and so many questions each step of the way. All the very best!!!

Kim

You are home (!) and getting a little bit better each day (!) but it doesn't sound like it's been much fun for you. I remember reading some RNYers exercising within a couple of week out while I was still walking circles in my house and taking a couple of long naps per day. I felt like the turtle in the race for a better life. Keep plugging along, too.

I was 57 1/2 old at the time of my surgery - I found out that surgery (any kind) can be more difficult to recover from than when we were younger. It may take 6-12 weeks for the surgical chemicals to fully get out of your system. Follow your surgeon's instructions - very carefully during this time.

The 12 pounds you lost in the last week are probably influenced by hydration levels - so wait until the first month before you get concerned that you lost too much/too little.

I needed to use patch vitamins that first month because the chewables upset my stomach. Make sure you take the vitamins - all of them, and get adequate protein. I did not have a drain, so I did not have that annoyance. You will prob feel better when that comes out.

Let us know how you are progressing. May I suggest that you consider holding your final assessment of your surgery until your first year anniversary date. It may take that long to fully assess your experience.

I just told my son yesterday that if anyone tells me I "cheated" and took the easy way out, they're going to get their light*****hed out!!! GRRRRRR - there is NOTHING easy about this!!

People who think that weight loss surgery is easy have no idea what is involved. I have my good days and my bad days, and I've been fortunate to have very few complications. I can't imagine what you're having to go through.

I hope it gets better soon.
