Pre op diet

My dr. did not give a set amount if weight to loose before surgery. They do want to see weight loss though and in addition as part his program you have to do a 5 day ketosis diet. This is to show compliance. During the 5 days you are allowed to eat (3) 3oz servings of lean chicken, pork or turkey per day along 8oz of broth with each meal. Other than that it's water only for the rest of the day. On the 6th day you go back to the dr. and get urine tested to show if you are in ketosis. IF you are not they will try more education and repeat it. If you still aren't compliant then you will be kicked out of the program. As far as the amount of time you are on the pre-diet depends on how long you have to wait per your insurance company. Some require 3 months of meetings and others require 6 months. MY insurance is 3 months. I started classes in July and my diet towards the end of July and now waiting for approval from insurance co. then set a surgery date. since that time I've lost over 30lbs.

B: 1/2C egg substitute, 1/2 whole grain english muffin, 2.5oz breakfast turkey sausage

L: 3oz low sodium ham

D: 3oz grilled mixed veggies, 4oz lean flank steak, 2C field greens, 1TBSP lite Italian dressing

S: Dannon L&F 4oz

Totals: Calories 771, Fat 25, Carbs 42, Protein 93
