I've had them and they are not bad at all.  They are a great alternative when craving some kind of "candy/sweet" fix.

I am against soy in general... So I would not use those... And I would take them away from my BF if he ever try to eat them.... IYKWIM..... Too many phytoestrogen...

I have a soy protein allergy.  The calorie/protein ratio looks great, though.

Honestly, you have a long way to go, and this isn't the time to start looking for something to replace the kind of crappy snacks that got you and me morbidly obese in the first place. Adding protein to a crappy snack doesn't make it healthy. Use those calories for some dense protein, or just don't use them at all.

A lot of people find those substitute snacks to be a gateway back into Little Debbie and Hershey. You can rethink it in a year from now, if it even interests you then. But for now, you'll be better off staying on the wagon.

I'm glad to read your comments. I'm only almost 6 months out and have lost 90 lbs but everytime I see any type of "snack", "bar", etc, all I can think of is that its just the kind of crap I ate that got me over 300 lbs. I'll stick to dense protein, veggies and protein drinks, thank you.

I think some of the "protein foods" have their place as long as you're careful -- they shouldn't be used as permanent replacements for real food, and each person needs to figure out for themselves if something's going to trigger a downward spiral. I love taking Quest bars on long bike rides because it's an easy protein source I can eat on the move. The Quest chips are great to dip in Greek yogurt dips. I was never a big chip eater in the first place, and I like that they aren't too salty, so it's not going to make me crave a bag of Lays. But give me a couple Tums and I want all of the candy in existence, so I avoid them like the plague now. We've all got our own "gateway drugs."

Thank you for your great advice! I feel I've done a good job thus far living lean to this point of my journey. The last thing I'm looking to do is go backwards. This was why I asked for advice so thank you again. Much appreciation to everyone.

I hope you listen to Grim's words of wisdom.  This journey is about learning to eat in a way that you can lose weight and keep it off for life.  For now it is important to concentrate on protein and to eliminate Carbs except for non-starchy vegetables.

My NUT and my Surgeon both told me something that resonates daily. They said "deprivation is the catalyst to failure", meaning as humans we need to nurture our wants, needs, desires and expectations. We as WLS patients don't automatically turn into health food Nazis unable to enjoy a pleasurable treat in moderation. 

There should be nothing wrong with having foods in your diet that give you pleasure. It only turns into a problem if you are not honest about why you are having a sweet protein snack or a salty treat on break. You have to constantly work within yourself to know that there is a fine line between moderation and indulgence. For some of us that line is nearly invisible and we know a sweet protein snack could easily turn into permission to treats much worse. Others have the discipline to say these handful of Pop Chips are plenty and won't lead me to a bag of Doritos on my way home from work. 

You just have to know which is you.
