How do you guys get that much protein in so little food?  I’m having a very hard time getting all of mine in.  I am literally scraping the bottom of the barrel for food ideas.  My husband is still out of town and it’s wearing me down.  My problem is not overeating or cheating when he’s gone, but it’s not eating enough, or not drinking my water.  My husband has a wonderful habit of bugging the crap out of me and reminding me to eat and drink.  I miss him so much (I’m tearing up here ladies).  Anyway, I’ve decided instead of just picking him up from the airport at the loading area, I’m going to park and make a sign that says “Daddy” then we’re going to wait on the outside of customs for when he comes through.  That is if I’m allowed to do that now.  Anyone know if you’re allowed to go in to pick someone up as long as you don’t go past the security area?

My food today is very simple and surprisingly high in protein compared to what I’ve been eating.

B: half a sausage, egg and cheese wrap from Tim Horton’s.  I didn’t eat the tortilla. Coffee with cream and splenda

S: 1 oz shrimp (I need to get some low carb ****tail sauce, which would make it so much tastier)

L: 2oz shrimp and ¼ cup cottage cheese (I literally just grabbed shrimp and cottage cheese and threw it in my bag this morning).

S: 1oz shrimp

D: Slow cooker country ribs with bbq sauce and steamed cauliflower

Cal: 675 Protein: 73 Carb: 5 (!!!) Fat: 29

Vitamins are rolling, water is a go.  I’ll likely have a massive wrestling match with my kids tonight for exercise.  It’s been one of the best things about my husband travelling.  Usually it’s him on the floor tickle fighting and rough housing while I sit and watch.  But my 22 month old is missing it, so I’ve been the aggressor.  I have a feeling when my husband gets back, he might have to defend against the Mommy of DOOOOOOM!

Have a great day everyone.

It took me a long time before I was able to eat all of my protein.  I found shakes and bars so helpful in my first few months.  If your plan does not allow them then you may want talk to your NUT about other options.

Mommy of DOOM, I love that!

Deanna,

I always have a protein shake for breakfast so I start my day with high protein.  Premier Protein ready-made shakes have 30 grams of protein, the Jay Robb protein powder I use on the weekends when I make my shakes has 24.

I eat a lot of lean chicken, pork, beef, turkey or ground turkey, shrimp or fish (usually 3 oz servings).  Eggs are another great source.  Babybel or Babybel light are a good on the go snack, as are any other cheese stick, all have protein and are low in carbs.  And of course Dannon Light & fit greek yogurt and cottage cheese are good ways to get the protein in.  Some of the other posters occasionally use protein bars occasionally.

I am for at least 80 grams of protein a day, I don't always get there, but I never have less than 60,

Hope this helps you out a bit.

My husband wrestles with my son and I hate it.  I don't know what it is about that whole play fighting thing that gets to me, but I have to leave the room.  LOL

The older they get,  the more dangerous it gets.  My oldest stopped wrestling with my husband once  he got big enough to inflict damage.  About 8 or 9 years old.

With the little one, there's a lot of chasing and tickling.  It's not really real wrestling.
