What's On Your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?

The weather has gone from about 50 degrees this monring all the way up to 80, now. No humidity and lovely, but I am too damn busy to enjoy it! I swear being unemployed keeps me busier than when I was working 70 hour weeks. Somehow I have less time to exercise, my house is a wreck, and I feel like I am constantly running from place to place with no breathing time. I think that even though I worked too many hours, I at least had a predictable schedule and knew how to work around it. I've got to figure something out--this is bananas. Even as I post this, I realize I am already behind a snack. Ugh!

Meal Plan

- Breakfast: decaf coffee with skim, Trader Joes Southwest Style Chicken Poppers with light shredded cheese and plain greek yogurt

- Snack 1: Edamame

- Lunch: Chicken Salad

- Snack 2: Fage Cherry Greek yogurt

- Dinner: 3 oz Fresh Cod with lemon pepper

- Snack 3: Babybell Light Cheese Round

Exercise

Already did 35 minutes on the elliptical this morning, and plan on a loooong walk (jog?) tonight :)

It's a warm 76 degrees here in Texas! I don't know what y'all are talking about - Fall weather in the warm states is AMAZING! :)

I had a binge-eating ‘episode’ last night that I am pretty ashamed of. I wrote about it on my blog (blogger & my OH profile) if anyone is interested in knowing more about it. Back on track again… 5 more days until the liquid diet starts.

Surgery Status: 12 Days to go.

B: Premier Protein Chocolate Shake

L:  3oz Roast Beef w/ 3 Slices Claussen Garlic Pickles (so good!)

D:  5oz of ‘Crack Slaw’

S: Babybel Light Cheese + Dannon L&F Greek Yogurt

Mistakes happens, slip ups happen.  I honestly dont know how you have eaten as little as you do BEFORE surgery!  I would have had lots of slip ups if I had done that!

I started eating the way I would after surgery, MONTHS and MONTHS before surgery.  But bigger portions.  That way I was satisfied, wouldn't binge yet still eating low carb etc ;)

*gentle hugs*  We all have binge episodes.  And you know what?  That's okay.  When it's done, you just start over again.  Remember that you've come a long way, and one binge is not going to undo all of your hard work.

Take care,

Felicity, I read your blog post and let me say that I can relate.  I used to be able to put away a pound of noodles in a meal!  No joke. Or an entire medium pizza.  I could literally eat until I felt sick, and then eat again shortly after.

This may/will not be fixed (this desire to squash emotions, eat out of boredom or sadness or whatever the trigger is) from RNY, BUT your capacity is greatly diminished. So while I am not going to say "oh it's ok, you're great, keep looking forward" (because you know those dozen cookies did not do you any good), I think it's AWESOME that you:

1. Are eating high protein, low carb leading up to surgery

2. Are cognizant of your behaviors and how the binge makes you feel

3. Admitted to your husband as well as this online community what happened

So trust me girl, all is not lost!  RNY has changed my life in a million ways.  And I went into it with a WAY worse attitude than you - I was committed once I had surgery but I had sooooo many food funerals in the weeks before surgery.  I felt like "I can never eat nachos again!" or "I can never eat pizza again" or "I can never eat sugar cookies again!" and I would just pack it all in.  The truth is, I can eat (almost) all of those things again, though I usually choose not to, and I make new WLS friendly versions of those things (like half of a Flat-out light wrap with cheese and sauce and turkey pepperoni on it).

I don't think you are doing badly - I think it's great that you are owning up to last night's binge, the accompanying bad feelings, the calorie count (god when I think how many calories I used to eat in a day!) and looking forward to a brighter and lighter future!  I think you seem like you are really ready for this journey and I can't wait to see your success!!!

It is rainy in Los Angeles today, and it looks like it would be cool, but no . . . warm and rainy.  I love the fall and can't wait until sweater weather . . . except none of my sweaters from last year fit so I need to get some shopping in before the cool weather hits, or I'll freeze!  Today is a gym day so that also means its an "eat back every calorie you burn" day.  So, my menu is kind of up in the air.  I never thought I'd say this, but eating has become a chore and not something I look forward to.  Ugh.  Here's my plan, although I know I'll have to squeeze in more food along the way:

B:  Ground turkey, spinach and Feta cheese with a Skinny latte

L:  Leftover brisket, quinoa salad, raspberries

D:  New York strip (that I didn't eat yesterday) and ceasar salad

S: Light and Fit with peanut butter/somersaults/chicken salad

Totals:  Cal: 1256, Protein: 120g, Fat: 56g, Carbs: 52g (given my calories need to be around 1800 today and my carbs are lower than my Dr. wants, it looks like I have some more eating to do . . .)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Most days I feel like eating is just another chore I have to get done!

Especially since eating dense protein pretty much makes me feel horrible after......ugh

There are days I wish I could just live in liquids alone.....or some kind of magic pill! lol
