I am more aware than you think.  These were not chips that were bought a the gift shop, these are cheese crisps that are all cheese and actually melt in your mouth and are on my list of approved foods sold in a special boutique at the hospital for bariataric patients.  So I a not worried about my pouch busting open or being dead.

You need all the facts before you speak that way to someone.  I will gladly look for a friendlier blog with more compasionate people.

Have at it honey.  The other forums just spew rainbows and unicorn farts.  They will pat you on the back for ******g up and never tell you the truth.

You have no idea what you are in for in the long run.  If you think eating **** like cheese crisps just because the hospital sold them at a specialty boutique you are living in a fantasy world.  Who ever made up that list of approved foods has never had WLS and they do not know what the true needs are of a WLS patient.

Protien and not from crap food is what is needed along with plenty of water and vitamins.

From the perception of many here, YOU need "all the facts" regarding safe/smart choices post-op if you wish to be successful.

Sometimes, compassion is telling someone they've screwed up, rather than patting them on the head and enabling potentially dangerous behavior.

Really though. It angers me to know that someone not even out of the hospital is eating junk food. I have been working and fighting and paying for all kinds of therapy to finally get clearance to even meet the surgeon to discuss a date but someone who obviously isn't mentally ready has already been able to have surgery. I long for the day that I wake up one morning to go per and don't almost fall due to the pain in my feet and knees. I would give a kidney to be post op by now but we have those eating junk food IN the hospital. That is total bs

I wasn't judging, and I wasn't shaming. I know first hand how difficult the lure of food is. But stopping at the hospital junk food stand and buying cheese crisps the day after your surgery? How can you possibly support that? There is absolutely no way to find a shred of wisdom in there. It's hard enough to try and rationalize such a choice for someone who is a month or two or six post surgery. But you can't even make it out the door? Those are some serious issues. And I guarantee you, 99.9% of the people reading this thought the same thing. It needed to be pointed out.

That didn't sound right  They were bought in the bariatric boutique at the hospital .  they are cheese in the form of a crisp that melt in your mouth.  They are 7g protein  0 sugar and count as one ounce of protein.  Sorry they were not cheese curls.  LOL sorry for the misunderstanding.

Um...please don't eat those crisps. I get that they are made entirely out of cheese-that's not the issue, but your staple line is fresh...the bits of cheese could get stuck.  They aren't even remotely appropriate for pureed stage. I've actually eaten those myself, but I was months out, not days. I know that's not what you want to hear, but I'm telling you this for your own good.

Once you are ready for solid foods, they'll be fine for you, but not now. Stores like that sell products for ALL phases of surgery post ops..and some of those products are not intended for fresh post-OPs. My surgeon has a store similar to the one you reference, it's attached to his practice. They sell all sorts of neat stuff, but a lot of the products are meant for people much further out than a week.

I was starving until I got to the "soft food" stage 4 weeks out and was able to add things like ground meat and shredded chicken. My calorie count is still lower 4 months out than it was 2 weeks out because of that! It doesn't matter how much protein is in the liquid; liquids just don't fill me up.

My program does not look at calories at all they go by volume.  Right now most of the calories are in the protein shakes.  Can't be many calories in an ounce of protein, with an ounce of fruit, vegetable or starch.  I actually ate an egg last night and the dietician said that was really 2 oz but if I can tolerate it that she was ok with it.  Seeamsl like a lot to know.

How did you get this far without knowing this stuff? It seems dangerous to let someone have this surgery when they are lacking the mist important pieces of information
