In process- clothing options- interesting ideas??!

Just me rambling...So I know we talk about clothes among everything else on the forum. As I've been slowly shrinking during my 6 month pre cert period, I wanted to rid myself of clothes as soon as they are too big on me. I've shipped up a huge box and I'm sending to swap.com. They list the clothes for you and sell them and send you the money. I sell on ebay but clothes are the bane of my existence to sell so I try to steer clear unless it is an amazing piece (clothes to me are a huge hassle with the photography, measuring etc). So I was thinking this morning- what are other cool ways to 1) rid yourself of clothes you no longer need, 2) get new or nearly new clothes for our amazing shrinking selves. I've also been thinking of trying gwynniebee for a couple months once I have my surgery. The first month is free- and they ship all kinds of clothes you choose out... Was thinking it would be a fun way to try new things and sizes in your own home without the retail glare on you. Another idea I had was to organize a clothes swap with other members of my monthly support group.

I know a bunch of you guys also shop Kohls and I'm guilty of that- Actually have a 30% off starting today and my jeans are falling off!

Thrift shopping is fun for me also.

Anywhoo, was just thinking out loud!

I like consignment shops for buying and selling. When I was losing I gave away stuff on freecycle and to charity.

About two months after surgery I was looking pretty shabby and not shabby chic.  Goodwill is not on my usual route but was looking for decor for a rental, instead found a great sale and some upscale sweaters.  I paid $28.00 for 8 sweaters.  I still wear them so it was a win, win day.

I always did kohls and Macys clearance rack. Don't be afraid of buying a good deal that you aren't into yet. The $8 dress of $5 pants will be gotten into eventually. If they don't end up working out by the time you get there, Kohls and Macys will always take it back. That strategy has worked out great for me. Old Navy has unbelievable clearance racks as well. I have bought pants for $.98 and $1.69. Not unlimited returns. Lots of times the items are cheaper than actually marked. I have an ON credit card and periodically they put the store on sale for CC holders at 40% off. Sometimes it includes clearance. I find leggings/yoga pants are your friend because you can make them work for multiple sizes. Also find interesting stuff at Costco, cheap and always returnable. tops and dresses you can kind of get away with over multiple sizes, but I hate baggy pants or too big bras. I always felt I needed at least 3 of each to rotate between. So those I break down and buy as needed.

This has been a major problem for me.  Think about it.....in 2 years I have dropped from a 74 waist to a 40.  I have done it all in including trying to sell on ebay.  I have found the best way is at least where I live is Goodwill.  Last week I found 3 pairs of jeans and a sports jacked that fit.  It was half price Saturday and got it all for $12.50.  What doesn't sell on ebay goes to Goodwill.  Everything I buy is almost like new and has solved a big expense for me with clothes.  GOOD LUCK!

I am a dedicated thrift store shopper. I find so many things for such a good deal. I also look at clearance racks and sales at regular stores.

I gave everything away as it got too big. I didn't have time to dedicate to selling things. While I was actively losing, I had a much smaller wardrobe-just enough to get by-and did not buy anything ahead of time. I found it too hard to predict what cuts would fit. I had to try things on.

I like nice clothing, but I am tight with a dime, so I prefer the hunt of thrift stores and sales.

I fight badgers with spoons.

Supershopper,

We must be sisters because I love shopping as well. I don't work so I don't have a ton of clothes but I love giving the old ones that don't fit away to Good Will. Keep up the good work.

We have a community thrift store up here that holds 10 for $10 sales! I've gotten some great clothes, and some to resell even!

I take mine in as far as I can. (I'm not a great sewer, but I pin them to fit and then sew up the side or center seams.)  Except for  a few expensive items, leather jackets, etc., I found it's just better to donate and take the tax write off - those clothes are your past, the lest time spent on them the better.
