Well I'm finally going to have my psych eval tomorrow.  It's the last pre-op requirement that I have; I'm so ready to join everyone on the loser's bench!  Does anyone know how long it should take the PSY to get the results to my surgeon?  As soon as they have that they will request the approval from my insurance and once they have the approval we can schedule my surgery

My psych was at the same hospital as my Surgeon,  and the recommendation was given to me that day.  I called the next day to make the appointment to set my surgery date.

So depending on if your psychologist gives you a copy  of their recommendation,  you could make your appointment immediately.

I have to travel to Anchorage for my surgery and my psychologist is coming to Juneau from Seattle lol.  The only thing I don't like about living in Juneau is how hard it is to get any kind of medical treatment.  I guess I'll just have to ask the Dr tomorrow how long he thinks it will take for him to send the results.

We move from a very beautiful spot to Los Angeles out of concern for medical issues. In retro spect, we had similar or better care in our beautiful rural home. I was afraid of the long drive from hospital to home.that wouldhavebeen a five hour drive through beauty. Here it can take 2 1/2 hours in bumper to bumper misery. I miss the green trees and closer accessible ocean. Best of luck to you.

My primary care dr knew that I had the 6 month requirement with insurance so we completed those before I got the referral to see my surgeon.  Maybe we will have surgery around the same time! When I met with my surgeon we talked about me having mine in November because thats what works best for me with my work schedule. I really hope we get to keep that plan! I know my health is more important than any job but I really love my job and what I do. My co-workers are super supportive but I don't want them to have to do my job during the busiest times of the year.

I just told my boss last week that I will be on medical leave sometime nov/dec. She really didn't want anyone else out at christmas, but this really isn't her choice. I actually would rather have it asap in Nov and get it over with so to speak so i can start to recover.

Yeah, I was really upfront with all of the supervisors at my job and told them that the plan would be surgery and as I knew more I would let them know.  I think it helps that we are all friends as well as co-workers.  The HR department is always like "NO! Don't tell us anything, we just need to know your aren't going to be here"  but our division is alot like a family.  One of my co-workers is even planning on traveling with me to Anchorage for when I have the surgery because I don't have any family that lives up here. I have to stay in Anchorage for 7-10 days after my surgery and she's planning on staying there the whole time to take care of me.  I am really blessed to have such an amazing support system at work where I spend most of my time.

I hope you get to have your surgery in Nov., I'm like you I want to have it so I can start that new chapter of my life!

I had my RNY surgery December 17, 2013, and I had to be on a pre op diet four weeks prior to surgery which consisted of all liquids but was allowed 4oz lean protein and 1 cup veggies per day.  My post op consisted of a clear liquid diet for the first week, regular liquid diet for two weeks, then puried for two weeks than soft foods.  So my thanksgiving and Christmas that year were extremely difficult.  But if you have a good support system in place that will help a lot.

Good luck!!!

Please please please mentally prepare for the worst. 6 months ago I was in the same place as you. I am just finally getting psych clearance and meeting the surgeon tomorrow. I was pissed sad depressed and binged when my therapist said no I was not ready.  If you have a good team on your side they will really make sure you are ready. I wish you all the best just don't be devastated if they make you wait. I wanted it when I started but for the wrong reasons. Now I want it even more but not foe the cosmetic reasons that I wanted it in the first place  praying for your success
