B12

My B12 is chewable. The other day I accidentally bought some B12 tablets. They are not returnable. I hate the chewable ones. I assume that it is ok to take the tablets...?

I'm pretty sure B-12 has to be sublingual.

Sorry but B12 tablets are no go for us...

Either Sublingual tablets or liquid, or nasal spray or injections..

An RNYer lacks "Intrinsic Element" which is what permits the liberation of oral (pill form) B12.  We need to use a sublingual or do shots.

I found that Trader Joe's has a great B12 sublingual which takes about 30 seconds to dissolve under your tongue.  They also have a B-vitamin which has all the B complex vitamins we need which also dissolves quickly.

You have to be careful with B complex. Some vit B like B6 can be toxic because they can accumulate in our system.. I know a lot of people who had trouble with toxic levels of B6. It took me 3 years to get my B6 to level just slightly above normal ( was really really high)

I agree;  that's why it's a good idea to keep up on the labwork.

Sorry honey, but they won’t work. L A great sublingual that’s affordable is Vita4Life’s. You may want to try them from now on. They pack a mighty punch and they have Folic Acid and B-6 to boot. One container is a 3 month supply. You simply can’t beat it. I’m sorry you’re stuck with B12 that won’t work for you. That’s a drag. L Here’s the link for Vita4Life.

You you, if the only reason you are on OH is to sell crap from Vita4Life, you might think about being less condescending. Most snake oil sellers are more successful with a little charm.

Every one of your posts has been an attempt to sell something.

Even a chewable B12 isn't doing you much good.  The problem is the lack of intrinsic factor (as already mentioned), so any method that involves the B12 into the stomach will not absorb well at all. If you cannot return them, you might as well give them to someone without a RNY.

for RNYers B12 needs to be sublingual (NOT just chewable), by transdermal patch, by injection, or (apparently) via nasal spray. (I have not seen the nasal spray or know anyone who uses it, but I have seen it mentioned here.)

You can get Twinlabs 5000 unit "dots" that are very small (and, at that dose, probably only need to be taken once a week (as I do)) for about $15 for a bottle of 60... which is a whole year's worth of you only take one a week.  So it won't cost you much to remedy your mistake.

Actually mine ARE sublingual but I thought I could chew them. After reading on here, I have one more question...is it ok for them to melt on the top of my tongue or do I have to put them under my tongue?
