Oh, I'm sorry to hear about the lay off! Good for you for staying focused... Apply the same attitude of today and you'll come through this fine!!!

I am sorry you are going through this.  The best thing you can do right now is hire yourself as a job hunter.  Set up regular hours for working on your resume, researching leads, making applications and going to interviews.

Ugh I'm sorry you're dealing with this! That's so stressful! I'm glad you'll be able to get unemployment, that will be a load off your mind at least. I saw you said that getting insurance will be a month wait so will you do COBRA during that time? If so at least it's only a month. I did COBRA for 6  months at one point and it was freaking expensive :(

I agree with setting up set times for a job search. Unfortunately it is like a job. I'm sure you're disciplined in your daily work life but looking for a job can be demoralizing sometimes - my husband was laid off for 9 months one time (in a completely different field) and it was rough on him. But by setting up set times to look for a job and also for doing things around the house he felt like he still had some sort of a job so that helped him.

I've been looking for a job for the last 3 months because I expect to get laid off soon or I'll be quitting soon as I hate my job so I really feel your pain on looking! Good luck!!

Yes, I will have to do COBRA for a month :(

I actually pleaded and convinced them to extend my health insurance for a few extra days, just until the 31st (it was supposed to end yesterday). I reminded them of the MAJOR surgery I just had and asked for a few days of grace period to get in some appointments before I start having a major deductible while unemployed.

I am wishing you a tremendous amount of luck and hope that you find something before the inevitable lay off happens. This is NO fun!
