My surgeon told me that WLS was kind of like resetting a thermostat.  Before surgery, I could eat all I wanted all the time and I would settle between 270 and 280.  I would fight to get to 250 or 230 and then it would snap back.  Ten months out I'm stalled at 190 and struggling for the last 40 pounds.

I just decided this week to train for my first (running) 5K.  I'm doing the "Couch to 5K" program.  I tried it before WLS, but I could never even do the first "easy" workout.  Yesterday I had good success with my first jog.  Hopefully this will kick me past my stall because I neglected exercise over the summer.

B: small slice ww bread with peanut butter

L:  (Packed my lunch and left it on the counter)  School lunch today.  Cheese quesadilla, pinto beans, salad

D: ?
S: premier protein bar

I've not been here for several weeks.  Hubby had knee replacement surgery and had all kinds of BP problems.  He finally came home and is doing very well....no longer using the walker, only using a cane.  I was stressing about his problems and money as in what the medical charges will be.  My eating hasn't been out of control, but I've not done as well as I should have.  I'm back working as a consultant and seeing the deposit in my bank account has upped my mood considerably.

Kristen, I've wondered about the set point lately.  I never reached the goal I set for myself and I'm 7 years out.  I got way too comfortable being able to shop in the Misses Dept., being able to cross my legs and all the compliments I didn't do the work to lose more weight.  Now I'm regretting that.  I'm at a weight now I've been at different times in my life so I've been wondering if that's why no matter how well I do foodwise.  I lose a few lbs. and in a few days those lbs. have found me again.

I know I need to make exercise a part of my day but ugh....I hate exercise.

Today's eats:

Corozonas bar

Greek yogurt

Chicken salad; pita bread

Cheese stick

Ground beef patty in French Onion Sauce; green beans

I have messed up my body so much for so long, I don't know if I have a set point. I do know that I would be a certain weight for several years, then quit smoking and gained probably 40 lbs. Was that weight for several years, then gained more when my husband was in a bad accident and then again with a diagnosis of the big C.  I don't think this shows any set point tendencies, just that I have, during my life, dealt with painful issues with food... duh!  LOL

I will admit that my weight loss in the last month, doesn't seem quite as dramatic as it did right after surgery. Most likely because I have set a 6 month goal of 100 pound weight loss after surgery. Probably unrealistic and still 13 lbs away and I only have 13 days left. I am very happy with my loss thus far, so I think I need to lighten up on myself... head wise, not food wise!  Also, I have been dealing with so much loose skin and I joke about it, but on the inside it is freaking me out! Last night, I noticed that my upper legs (which have always been floppy) now seem to actually have skin hanging that is flopping more when I walk. And, don't get me started on my abdomen (growth/gut... affectionately known as GiGi). I am going to have to start using major shapewear... and it is so expensive!!!!   Okay, sorry to veer off the set point topic but I needed to vent!

My menu today:

B: Tea with Truvia and Premier Protein chocolate shake (I can't remember who mentioned it but they are very good warm, too).

L: Ham with cream cheese and pickles rollups, 1/4 cup sauteed zucchini with parm cheese

D: 3 oz talapia with 1 tablespoon of Hellman's tartar sauce and more sauteed zucchini (if it fits)

S: throughtout day... navel orange (1st attempt, but fruit seems to be sitting well), L and F strawberry greek yogurt, 1 oz beef jerky

Totals: Calories - 884 (little high), Protein - 95, Carbs - 52, Sugars - 28, Fats - 36

Water and Vits started

Everyone have a good day!

The set point thing scares me so much, ive lost and gained 50plus lbs more times than I have fingers and toes...  I know how to lose weight, I can do that.  Its keeping it off that is my issue.  Its one of the reasons I cleaned out my closet so strictly as we went down.  I never did that before...  I also am sincerely hoping that I am able to maintain and the "reset" happens as i've read...

B-Protein Shake

S- Kind bar cranberry & Nut

L- HB Egg

S2 -String cheese

D- 3 oz Pork Chop w/mushroom gravy & Green Beans

I am doing that, too, closet-wise. I am not keeping anything that is too big... either I currently wear it or I soon will be wearing it. Just made a big haul to Goodwill about 3 weeks ago. And this weekend, I am going to clean out again (I am still going shopping in my closet) and my husband told me that there were more clothes out in our storage area.  I am cleaning it all out!
