Almost there

I have been considering WLS on and off for several years but it never felt like the right time (small kids, divorce, graduate school etc). Over the past several months I have been seeing my family Dr and discussing health issues with her. At my last appointment ,  in July, I asked her about WLS and she was very supportive. On 8/10 I had my consultation and was informed that I had enough Drs visits to satisfy insurance requirements. The dr worked me in with the nutrionist that day, I have the scope Friday and my pscyological next week. The nurse said I would be ready to submit for approval by 9/1!!!! I wasn't expecting it to be so quick. On the plus side. I know exactly what I'm getting into. My mom and sister have both had the surgery and I was with them through the entire process.

Any idea how long it takes to be approved once it has been submitted to insurance?

I have United Healthcare through my husband's employer and it took 3 days. But the insurance specialist at the hospital said normally 10 days.

What exciting news, AKD40!  So glad you've been able to help your sister and mom with this surgery, so you know all about the process.

I went today and had my breathing capacity test, EKG, labs, and endoscopy. My surgeon said everything looks great. Now I just have to have a psychological evaluation Tuesday and everything will be ready to be submitted to insurance!
